2016 Nationals:
 
Register for USA Boccia Nationals at www.usaboccia.org.  BC1, BC2, BC3, BC4 Team and BC3, BC4 Pair all earn ranking points toward selection to the US Pool for International Events.  BC5, BC6 and Open events are included and offer hearty competition at the National Level.  Questions please contact: LALOBMEYER@SBCGLOBAL.NET  (Games Registrar)
 
In conjunction with the 2016 Boccia Nationals, USA Boccia is offering:
A boccia classifiers workshop July 19-21 and a national referee course  July 20 with a practicum at the tournament.  Contact usaboccia@gmail.com
 
Certification tests for BC3 Sport Assistant and Level 1 Coaching are required for anyone requiring access to the call room and/or boccia courts (the field of play) during the 2016 Nationals. You will note that BC1 Sport Assistants do not have a certification test at this time. To be considered fully registered for Nationals you must be a member of USA boccia, pass the certification test on-line (15 dollar fee). Once you have achieved a passing score for the certification you will receive you certificate. Additionally those who have certification will also be listed in the US nationals registration tab. Should you require any testing accommodations due to a disability or you have further questions regarding certification please contact us at usaboccia@gmail.com .
 
A list of who already has the certificates earned will be posted on our website under the US nationals registration tab.
 
 
Attention programs who serve persons with Spinal Cord Injury:
 
USA Boccia is the recipient of a grant from the Craig H Neilsen Foundation.  It is a Quality of Life Grant to promote this wonderful sport of Boccia to individuals with Spinal Cord Injury.  Help us spread the word and let us know if you have persons with SCI or serve persons with SCI who are interested.  Contact usaboccia@gmail.com
 
Because of this grant, USA Boccia can impact programs and person with SCI by:

 
  • offering trainings, demos, exhibitions
  • loaning boccia balls, ramps and head sticks
  • offering a registration to a first-timer athlete and sport assistant BC3, BC4 to USA Boccia Nationals
  • offering a scholarship to the 2016 classifiers workshop July 19-21
  • paying a fabricator to produce a ramp to advantage athletes with SCI
 
International Competition

Montreal:  Brigid Mason, Cornelius Oatis, AB Anwar, Doug Barnes, Bobby Jackson and Charlie Brown headed off this week to Montreal, Canada for the Bisfed World Open.  Brigid, Cornelius, AB and Doug will be competing in Team & Individuals.  They will be coached by Bruce Ashby, who also serves as Team Leader.  Bobby and Charlie will be our BC4 Pair and they will be coached by Charley Wright.  Please follow our Facebook page and Twitter for pictures and results!!!   

Dubai:   On May 16th our BC3 Pair of Howard Cohen and Charles Fleisch will be heading to the Bisfed 2016 Fazza World Open in Dubai.  Pictures and results will be posted!   

Beijing:   Austin Hanson and Gary Barraclough won 2 matches at the World Individual Championships against Japan and Belgium in March in Beijing, China.  Austin lost one match against Hong Kong.  He did not advance from Pool - a tough tournament! He ended up in 18th place out of 38 athletes in the BC3 Division at this event. Austin’s present World Ranking is 16th in the World.
 
 
USA Boccia Board Elections:
 
USA Boccia is seeking candidates for two (2) open positions on the Executive Board to serve on the USA Boccia Board of Directors.  Nominations are open now, and elections will take place at the National Boccia Championships July 20-25, 2016, in Kansas City, Missouri.
 
The Governance Committee is looking for talented, well-qualified members to serve on the Executive Board of USA Boccia. If you, or a member you know, has a passion for the sport of Boccia, please complete the Statement of Interest Form. Completed forms ( https://usaboccia.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/USA-Boccia-Statement-of-Interest-Form.pdf), along with resumes and questions, should be forwarded to lewis1jj@gmail.com and usaboccia@gmail.com by May 30, 2016.
