US Sailing & Youth Programs:
Opportunities for Everyone
As the summer approaches, and yacht clubs and community sailing centers are organizing their youth programs, US Sailing would like to share with you the wide range of program options we offer junior sailors to experience and enjoy sailing.

Hudson River Community Sailing:
Inspiring NYC youth through STEM and Sailing
Each year, 150 students from nine public high schools in New York City, each with a unique story, participate in Sail Academy, a four-year youth development program at Hudson River Community Sailing. HRCS students learn to sail, build wooden boats, and receive academic credit through an afterschool program that uses STEM curriculum and US Sailing’s Reach initiative.

This is where Dawn Jones and Sam Rosario met a few years ago.

The Art of Listening to &
Supporting your Employees
Sailing organizations of all types and sizes, regardless of resources, are routinely faced with the task of recruiting, organizing and motivating staff and volunteers to collectively align behind greater organizational initiatives.

These questions and more were addressed by two sail training industry leaders, Larry Ledgerwood and Rich Jepsen, at Sailing Leadership Forum 2016 in San Diego last February. US Sailing conducted a Q&A with Rich and Larry for a detailed examination of these leadership best practices.

Whether you need certified race officials and volunteers for casual Wednesday night racing or a qualified team for a national championship, US Sailing will help you build your race management team for this summer’s sailing season.
