News from The Tree House - April 2016
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month

All of us at The Tree House have been busy this month going out into the community, reminding everyone that we all need to work together to protect our children and, should you need help, we are here to provide services and support.

We kicked off the month on April 1st at Dawson's Market.
Mr. Cookie joined us as we told shoppers about our services and The Tree House Tour de Cookie. Dawson's has been a loyal supporter of The Tree House. This year they are lending us another hand by donating bananas for our The Tree House Tour de Cookie riders. Thank you Dawson's!
Proclamation Recognizing Child Abuse Prevention Month Presented by Sidney Katz and George Leventhal
On April 5th Sidney Katz and George Leventhal presented Montgomery County's proclamation recognizing Child Abuse Prevention Month and the work done at The Tree House.
Also on April 5th, Laura Erstling, LCSW-C and Sergeant Claude "Ted" Onley joined our own Dr. Stephanie Wolf at our "What did you see? What can you do?" seminar. The feedback from our attendees was great! We are planning to host many seminars throughout the community in the future.
On April 6th, we spent the afternoon in Rockville at Whole Foods. As part of Whole Foods' 5% day, The Tree House received 5% of the store's net sales that day, over $7,000!  This is an enormous help to our organization and the children we serve. Thank you Whole Foods!
...and that's only the beginning!  Look for us throughout the month and then at ...
Check this out!  You won't be riding alone this year, even if you try. As of April 13th:
You've been given a reprieve if you haven't registered for the Ride or ØK Stroll yet and still want a t-shirt. The deadline to get a shirt with your registration is now 4/18/16!
This WILL NOT change again. There is not enough time.
If you want a shirt, you MUST register by the 18th!

Register for the Bike Rides here.
Register for the ØK Stroll here.

Need to rent a bike?
Go to Bike and Roll DC.
They'll deliver right to our event site!
Whether you are riding or strolling...or not riding and not strolling, you can purchase raffle tickets here ahead of time. We'll even put them in the jars for you! 10 basic raffle tickets are included if you are registered. Our premium raffle can only be purchased- here, at packet pickup, or on event day. If you purchase them now you can use a credit card. If you wait it's cash or check only...so why wait?

We've decided to switch things up this year!

In order to make cookie stand judging fair to ALL our cookie stands, we plan to send out a team of judges to visit each of our stands and rate them on criteria such as: Decorations, Cookie Presentation and Taste, Costuming of Cookie Stand Hosts, and Additional Stand Services offered.

We are looking for volunteer judges who DO NOT plan to ride in our event and have no tie (be honest!) to any of our cookie stands. If you are interested, no experience is required, but please send your cookie judging resume (we bet no one ever asked your for that before) and a paragraph explaining why you would be the best judge ever to tourdecookie@treehousemd.org.

Judges should be able to remain firm in their resolve to be impartial even when approached by large walking cookies or very cute children.
