Discovery is going digital!

The membership has spoken. Discovery magazine will be going 100% online starting June/July and the print edition will be discontinued.

Why is Discovery going 100% online?

1. Costs of producing Discovery are very high: KRW 60,000 per member per year. By going 100% digital, the savings of printing and mailing may be put towards other SIWA programs.

2. In February 2016, a survey was conducted where over 100 members provided their perspectives on Discovery; a large majority (est. 80%) indicated that they will maintain their readership if Discovery was only available in an online format.

3. SIWA’s Discovery magazine platform needs to adapt to the digital age given proliferation of mobile phones, our primary media consumption source, and in the interest of the environment.

The Executive Committee will continue to evaluate the Discovery platform and recommend changes in the future, as necessary, keeping in mind its fiduciary duty to the membership and taking member interests into its review process.

What will the new format look like?
The April/May issue, which you should have received by mail, has already been posted online in the new, reader-friendly digital format! Check it out here.

The Tours Team has organized a special fun sports day for SIWA families which is intended to build closer ties among members and their families. The program is for all SIWA members and their families, non-members are welcome to join too. Seoul Grand Park is a perfect place; it has a beautiful landscape and easy access. Our program includes a wonderful picnic at the park. The participants can continue enjoying Seoul Grand Park facilities after the program ends. Register online today!
