May is CIRMA's Preventing Sprains & Strains Awareness Month

Over the past five years, CIRMA Public School members have experienced over 6,500 sprain and strain related injuries. Back injuries caused by a sprain or strain are, in particular, a leading cause of loss for Custodians, Teachers, and Paraprofessionals, resulting in over $7 million in claims payments.
While the financial and morale loss to  the school community is high, the personal costs to the injured employees is often higher, with many left in chronic pain or permanently disabled.
The good news is that there are many effective steps that school leaders and Safety Committees can do to protect employees.
CIRMA has made May its "Preventing Sprains and Strains Awareness" Month and is providing a number of resources to help you raise awareness and implement best practices.
Visit our website to download Awareness posters, new Tail Gate Topics, Employee Safety handouts, and video--all tailored to CIRMA's Public School members.

We've we've created a resource page on our website with posters, handouts and video. We added two new topics to our E-Learning Center:   For more information and to start a Sprains and Strains Prevention program in your school, please contact your Risk Management Consultant.
