Games played April 17, 2016

Detroit 2B Ian Kinsler singled and crushed a 2-run HR down the left-field line in a 5-4 loss to Houston. It was his 4th home run of the season. In 2015, Kinsler didn't hit his 4th HR until Detroit's 92nd game.

Blue Jays CF Kevin Pillar singled three times in a 5-3 win over Boston. He also, once again, made one of MLB.com's Top 5 Plays of the Day with an acrobatic, leaping catch off of David Ortiz.

Dodgers CF Joc Pederson cranked a 2-out, 2-run HR that proved the winning margin in a 3-1 victory over San Francisco. Pederson, who struggled mightily last year after a monstrous first half, is hitting .257 with 2 HRs, 7 RBIs, and 14 strikeouts in 35 at-bats.

Oakland 3B Danny Valencia singled in a 3-2 win over the Royals. He also made his 3rd error, tied for most in the American League.

Cincinnati starter Jon Moscot, who suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in the third start of his rookie year in 2015, returned to the mound Sunday for the first time in 10 months. The 24-year-old righty yielded six hits and three earned runs over 5-and-2/3-innings in a 4-3 loss to St. Louis. "I felt good," he told MLB.com after the 102-pitch outing. On Twitter, Moscot was apologetic. "Not the end result we want but I'd like to thank everyone who has reached out & an amazing organization for all theyve done to get me healthy," he wrote.
