Alumni Spotlight

First Presbyterian Day School honored 80 high school seniors recently at a Graduation Luncheon. These alumni, who were members of the Sixth Grade Class of 2010, looked back at their classes and took a walk down “memory lane,” visiting the hall of composites next to the cafeteria. They blessed faculty by reciting the FPDS Declaration by memory – all their own idea. Congratulations, FPDS Alumni Class of 2016! To view photos from the event, visit http://www.fpds.org/news/media-gallery. (2016: FPDS Class of 2010 Graduation Luncheon)

Many of the seniors shared what FPDS has meant to them:

“It taught me so much about Christianity and provided such an awesome foundation for the rest of my life. I have so many great memories here and am so thankful I got to come here.” – Kara Cook, Flowood

“I am so thankful for a school that honors the Lord and teaches the students about the Lord and having a personal relationship with Him. When I have kids one day, I will be even more thankful to have a place like this to send my children.” – Emily Holmes, Brandon

“FPDS is a great base for junior high and high school.” – John Keeler, Jackson

Faculty Spotlight: Anne Claire McCain

Each Monday, the FPDS faculty meets for staff meeting and hears a devotional from one of its peers. Anne Claire McCain, a permanent substitute at FPDS, recently shared about the importance of “remembering.”

Tech Talk

Tech TalkFifth and sixth grade parents are invited to join us Wednesday, May 4, from 11:30-12:30 in Miller Hall for a Q&A Panel about technology. You may bring a lunch to enjoy during our panel discussion.

Parenting Children in a Tech Obsessed World

  1. Are you aware of all the dangers your students are exposed to online?
  2. Do you know the social networks and apps your students are using and communicating with today?
  3. Do you understand the vocabulary, acronyms and slang students use when talking with each other?
  4. Do you know if your child has used a webcam, Skype or sent/received nude pictures of themselves?
  5. Do you know the technology that exists to help monitor children’s activities online?

Technology can be very beneficial.  However, we cannot ignore the dangers of the digital world.  Information is power.  FPDS wants to partner with parents in raising your children to be Godly digital citizens.  Join us as we discuss and brainstorm ways to protect and monitor your children as they are faced with many challenges regarding these issues.

If you have specific questions or concerns related to technology, please e-mail Trey Tracy ttracy@fpds.org and we will discuss them at our Tech Talk May 4.
