Brussels adopts awaited action plan on VAT

Good news from Brussels, where the European Commission has adopted its anticipated VAT Action Plan. Promisingly, the plan includes proposals to ensure that e-publications can benefit from the same reduced rates as physical publications, something the IPA and the Federation of European Publishers have been pushing for, as explained in this joint 2015 report

SCOTUS and the Google Books case

The IPA was dismayed this month when the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) declined to consider the appeal in Authors Guild v. Google (the Google Books case), bringing to an end more than a decade of litigation.

UNESCO World Book & Copyright Day - ABC Award winners on the importance of Accessible Books

Millions of book lovers are print disabled and unable to do what so many of us take for granted: read bestsellers or access educational material because these books are not available in accessible formats. The IPA is a member of the board of the Accessible Books Consortium, and we were pleased to announce the winners of the ABC Excellence Awards.

The 31st IPA Congress drew more than 220 delegates from 41 countries to London's majestic Olympia Conference Centre. In this context, the IPA held an Extraordinary General Assembly, in which new Statutes and Committee Guidelines were adopted.
