Walk or Run to End Hunger!

Join PVLF to Raise Funds in the Human Race

Join Pajaro Valley Loaves and Fishes in the Human Race on Saturday, May 7th!

Come enjoy a complimentary breakfast, throw on your PVLF gear,
make a morning smoothie on our smoothie bike, and get ready to run!

Join us at 2300 Delaware Ave for registration from 8am-8:45am. The run will kick off at 9am sharp - join the PVLF crew and walk or run to end hunger! A free BBQ lunch will be provided at the end of the race!

The Human Race is a community fundraising effort put on by the Santa Cruz County Volunteer Center. Over 100 organizations are participating, and

every dollar donated will be proportionately matched!

How YOU can fight hunger this May at the Human Race:

1) JOIN OUR TEAM ON RACE DAY!
Donate or raise at least $15 to receive a PVLF t-shirt and represent your championship for food justice. Donations may be made easily online here.

2) COLLECT DONATIONS FROM FRIENDS, FAMILY, AND COMMUNITY!
Tell your networks why YOU are passionate about PVLF's work and encourage them to join us in our efforts!
All donations are made to the Santa Cruz County Volunteer Center in support of PVLF.

Team Captain Paul Tashiro poses with a $500 donation from the Santa Cruz County Deputy Sheriff's Association. Paul, a long time supporter of PVLF,
will be running with the crew on May 7th!

The more funds we can raise the more matching funds we will earn from the SC Volunteer Center! $50,000 in match money will be divided between participating non-profits. PVLF will receive a proportion of the match money equal to the proportion of funds OUR TEAM raises out of all participating organizations.

We are over 50% on our way to our goal of $2,500!

Grab your friends and family, get your running shoes on, and show the world that YOU are a champion for food justice.
See you there!

Celebrating our Volunteers

Fun and Games at Pinto Lake

PVLF volunteers enjoy a potato sack race during our annual volunteer luncheon.

Loaves and Fishes volunteers make up a tremendous 85% of the total time it takes to work to feed the Pajaro Valley. On April 9th, about 30 volunteers and their families gathered together for our annual Volunteer Appreciation BBQ at Pinto Lake Park. Lead by PVLF volunteer coordinator Colleen Walsh, volunteers enjoyed games, raffle prizes, and quality time with one another.

“Each one of our volunteers brings unique skills and personalities to PVLF”, says volunteer coordinator Colleen Walsh, “it's great to see them enjoy
one another’s company in a new setting.”

They danced, they raced in potato sacks, fought over musical chairs, and of course, shared a delicious meal together. For as hard as our volunteers work, they also sure know how to have a good time!

Thank you to the following businesses for their generous contributions of
food, decor, and prizes:

D’La Colmena Market & Catering, Jaliscos Restaurant, Cilantro’s Parrilla y Cantina, La Rosa Market, El Valle Produce, Grocery Outlet, Pacific Cookie Company, Martinelli’s, De Colores Flores, Second St. Café, Green Valley Cinema, Nob Hill Foods, Starbucks, Target, and Dharma’s Restaurant

Volunteer Spotlight

PVLF recognizes Nancy Villanueva (left) and Venessa Ledesma (right) for their inspiring volunteer service! Venessa works with Nancy as a mentor for Community Life Services, a program that supports individuals with developmental disabilities.

These ladies began volunteering in November and have since been a wonderful addition to our team. Not only do they work hard to keep our pantry well stocked, they have also recently stepped in to tackle our kitchen laundry loads. Once a week, they make a trip to the nearby laundromat to wash the kitchen’s heavy load of aprons and towels. Since we do not have laundry facilities on site, this is a critical task that keeps our organization running smoothly.
Thank you Nancy and Venessa for your model attitude and service!
