Pillar's 424-foot homer

Games played April 30 and May 1, 2016

Milwaukee RF Ryan Braun singled and drove in a run in Saturday's 7-5 loss to Miami. On Sunday, Braun hit three singles -- one of them in a 10-pitch at-bat -- and drove in 2 runs in a 14-5 win over the Marlins. His .349 average ranks 5th in the National League, and his 20 RBIs are tied for 6th.

Blue Jays CF Kevin Pillar doubled, walked, made his first error of the season, and hit a 424-foot, tie-breaking home run in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Rays. In Sunday's 5-1 win over Tampa Bay, Pillar singled but was caught trying to steal second base.

Detroit 2B Ian Kinsler had a rare hitless weekend, going 0-for-9 and seeing his batting average drop to .313. Fortunately for the Tigers, they won both games against the Twins.

Houston's Scott Feldman may have temporarily lost his role in the starting rotation, but he was dominant in a perfect 3-inning relief appearance Saturday, retiring all nine batters and striking out three in a 2-0 loss to Oakland.

Dodgers CF Joc Pederson was pulled for a pinch-hitter in the 7th inning Saturday and didn't play Sunday, but at least one opposing pitcher showed respect for his bat. With two outs and teammate Carl Crawford on third base Saturday, Pederson was intentionally walked.

Miami reliever Craig Breslow faced two batters in Saturday's 7-5 win over Milwaukee, giving up a two-run single and a two-run home run. He didn't fare much better in Sunday's 14-5 loss to Milwaukee, yielding a two-run double and RBI single in two-thirds of an inning.

We have good news to report about Athletics 3B Danny Valencia, who has been out since April 21 with an injured hamstring. He took part in fielding drills and batting practice Saturday, will begin a minor-league rehab assignment today, and is expected to return to Oakland's lineup on May 6.

Not so good news on Oakland's Sam Fuld, who will have season-ending surgery May 18 on a torn rotator cuff.
