Start project “Research Support MUMC+”

Maastricht UMC+ has the ambition to further strengthen its leading position in scientific research. In order to achieve that goal the Executive Board wants to optimise the support for the acquisition of projects and the execution of research projects. A project has been initiated to assess the feasibility of a Maastricht UMC+ organisation for the support of scientific research.

The Steering Committee, which consists of Prof. Marja van Dieijen, Prof. Albert Scherpbier, Prof. Frits van Merode, Dr Bart Haex and Dr Gemma Voss, has assigned working groups consisting of researchers, supporting organisations and managerial stakeholders of the Maastricht UMC+. They will be actively engaged in the formulation of an advice for the optimisation of the support. By bringing together colleagues of the hospital and the faculty a policy plan for the optimisation of the research support can be realised that takes the various interests into account.

Following the project kick-off a first workshop has been organised on April 14th. The participants have brainstormed and generated ideas on how the researchers can be supported in the best way. For instance with regard to advice on research funding or the organisation of data management.

During a second workshop on May 25th the generated ideas will be tested by presenting them to the researchers. The working groups will further elaborate the ideas in the next few months. In October a reporting session with the Steering Comittee is planned.

The contact persons fort his initiative are the project team members Dr Bart Haex, Dr Gemma Voss, Stevin Treurniet MSc and Sarah Dörenkamp MSc.
