President's Note
Our digital launch was a success! There were over 150 unique visitors to our website in the first month and well over 700 page views. The electronic newsletter was well received as well with over 60% recipients opening the newsletter all within the first eight hours it was sent. We hope the trend continues positively and we are able to communicate more frequently with the monthly publication schedule. What about the paper-based publication we used receive twice a year? Well, not to worry because we will continue to communicate and engage with all residents in the neighborhood via our reformatted LENA newsletter. Keep an eye out as the first edition is scheduled for distribution this month!
Thank you to our neighborhood sponsors, MG&E and JR's Mulch for their continued generosity and in taking the leap with us. And Movin' Out, a new addition to our sponsors this month. We look forward to many more collaborations!
The Earth Day clean up effort was commendable. We've more than doubled the turnout this year and collected two very large brush and leaf piles. Check out the website for pictures taken from the event! Lastly, the LENA board has planned many fun and exciting events in the upcoming weeks. We hope to see you at one of these events.

Run - Walk Health Series
The first ever LENA run-walk health series initiated Saturday, May 7 at 8AM. However, due to the weather or the events around the city, no one showed up. After further deliberation by the LENA board members, it was decided that 8AM Saturday morning was too early and decision was made to reschedule for a week night meeting; Thursdays at 6:30PM starting on May 26. The group will meet weekly for at least 8 weeks with the goal to participate in a celebratory, formal 5K run-walk race as a group.

Run-Walk and 5K
by Angela Jenkins, LENA President
5K or approximately 3.1069 miles is a long way. I can’t do it. It’s too hard. Believe me, I’ve been there. As a sprinter in my younger days, I have never been able to run any distance greater than 800M, let alone one mile! This changed when I decided to give running a try one fall, a few years back as I convinced my friend to sign up for a running class offered by the MSCR. Yes, I paid to run. MORE....
