Hello!

I hope the Spring changes are finding you well.

The first year of PDX EXA is underway with a great group of students - working hard toward their credential - we’re doing some serious expressive arts work! Read more below.

If you’re interested in joining us for Level 1 in 2017, I urge you to plan ahead and get started by attending one of our intro workshops. A workshop will help you get an early start on the enrollment process.

The first workshop is May 21st at Awakenings Wellness Center in SE Portland from 10:30am to 12:30pm. You can register here.

I’ll be leading the workshop. In May, we’ll focus on the ribcage and in subsequent months we’ll focus on a new area of the body.

Join us! You’ll get all the information you need about our 500-hour program and experience first hand the positive effects of using the tools of expressive arts.

Warmly,

Lanie

PDX EXA 2016 is underway… some comments from students working toward their credential:

"I appreciate the thought, detail and clinical process put into facilitating this program, as I am a mental health clinician myself. I feel blessed that I am a part of this rewarding program and recommend it highly."

"The personal mining experiences are providing me with such profound self insight in a safe, extremely fun and structured way."

May Intro Workshop  -  Protecting Our Vitality

Take some time for yourself and your ribcage!

You will explore the basic structure and function of the ribcage and make connections that are meaningful to you around breath and vitality.

What to expect in an intro workshop:

  • Experience the flow of an embodied expressive arts practice.
  • Focus on one area of the body while learning how to apply the expressive arts tools; art-making, writing, reflection with self and others, witnessing, observing, and working with sound/narrative.
  • Learn about and work with some of the methods and tools that we use in our teaching and learning models.
We use the knowledge that we get from our body - in combination with movement, art-making, sound, breath, and imagery - to deepen our awareness.

In our training program drawings are part of the process - here’s one of mine focused on the ribcage.

Sign-up for an Intro Workshop May 21st

Our Program maintains the high standards of an Approved Training Program of the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association. Graduates from our training program meet all the requirements to become Registered Somatic Movement Therapists and Educators.
