Go Fund The Ferret PAC
First Photos of the 2017 Legalize Ferrets Calendar
Larry Whitcomb (our photographer) took a little different route than expected, he went with the theme.  The theme I selected, "Ferrets in the Movies" does not work as planned.  There are only three movies I would list on the calendar; Beastmaster, Kindergarten Cop and Along Came Polly

We'll have to tweak the theme, perhaps ferrets in popular culture.  I don't know exactly what to do.  But our goal is to provide a sense of community, highlight whats good in ferrets and the ferret community, raise a little money and spread awareness of ferret welfare.  We are using the photos Larry took and thank him and the Golden State Ferret Society for a job well done.

On the lighter side, Roger H told me of the role of a ferret in Disney's Space Buddy's.  Alas, I can only find the clip in French.

We are going to make use of member submitted photos in the calendar.  Heidi will probably set it up shortly.  But two adorable photos already came in.

Go Fund Me Campaign - Please!

We're almost half way there.  We want to raise $3000 to fund our Political Action Committee.  We will contact legislative candidates after the June 7th primary and see who will talk to us.  Then award ten donations of $250 to those who support us.

Now of course we aren't going to swing any elections.  But we might start some conversations and awareness.  And maybe, probably some press coverage worth more than $3000.  So chip in everyone - we like those five dollar contributions.  Many small contributions do fund the California Ferret Freedom effort!

Actually there has been a stupid problem with this campaign.  We are trying to set up a checking account at Union Bank.  One signer (Donna H) is in Hayward and I'm in La Mesa.  Union Bank in Hayward hasn't send over the signature card to La Mesa.  So without a valid account GoFundMe stopped accepting donations.  I just fixed that.
Actually, we're past the half way mark.  A check came in for the PAC with the nicest note attached.  I'm going to share it.

In Conclusion

Our ads are up and running on Google's AdWords.  We're spending $5 a day each on Facebook and Google.  I think the Facebook ads work better because it generates a discussion.  But I did have a $100 coupon for AdWords - so we're only spending $52 this month.  I think.  Google has a way of surprising me when the invoice comes.

I have our letter from the IRS saying we are a 501-c-4 organization.  Donations to us are not tax deductible.  But that status is needed to regain our non-profit postal permit.  Which is important if we are going to mail out petitions again next year.

Thank you everyone for supporting us.  We are in a lull right now but things will get a little interesting when we start to meet candidates.  And real interesting when we go into the petition business and hire people to collect signatures next year - if we have to.

Can't anything be easy in California?  They're ferrets after all!

See you at the Round Up!
