Moscot's star turn

Games played April 27, 2016

The Dodgers are sitting Joc Pederson against lefties, so for the second time in the last three games the CF was limited to a pinch-hit appearance, walking both times. Pederson has gotten only five at-bats off lefties this season. Miami won Wednesday's game 2-0.

Blue Jays CF Kevin Pillar singled in a 4-0 loss to the White Sox. He also made the sort of sacrificial, diving catch that we almost feel entitled to expect from him. Pillar has no errors through 20 games.

Red-hot Ian Kinsler singled, walked, and scored 2 runs in a 9-4 win over Oakland.

We're a bit worried about Reds starter Jon Moscot, who exited after 5 innings Thursday and got his left shoulder x-rayed. (Moscot sat out the rest of 2015 after separating the shoulder in his third outing.) He yielded 4 hits, 4 walks and one earned run in a 5-2 loss to the Mets. Three errors by his teammates didn't help, contributing two unearned runs. On a lighter note, Moscot was interviewed about playing a pitcher in the 2006 David Spade movie The Benchwarmers.

Ryan Braun was idled as the Brewers were rained out.

Athletics 3B Danny Valencia remains on the disabled list with an injured hamstring.
