#GiveLocal
You've heard of Shop Local, Eat Local...On May 3rd, be sure to GIVE LOCAL.

On May 3rd, our English Language Learners program is participating in Give Local Des Moines - a community-wide event celebrating local nonprofits. During this 24-hour crowdfunding event, we are challenging Des Moines residents to join forces, celebrate the spirit of giving, and inspire everyone to give the nonprofit organizations that make our city stronger and create a thriving community. We will be joining thousands of nonprofits nationwide to raise money for local causes. We would love your support on May 3rd. To support our efforts, click here. For more information, check out this flier.

Calling all Volunteers!

Have you been looking for a way to get involved and share your time and talent with Trinity/Las Américacs? Now is your chance! We are looking for van drivers for the Prison Van Ministry (Prison Van drivers do receive a $50 stipend), and we are looking for Friday Volunteers to help in the office on Fridays.
If either of these opportunities sound like something you'd be interested in, please contact Monica at the office at 515-288-4056 or at office@trinityumcdm.org.
#UniteIowa on Race at Drake
#UniteIowa on Race at Drake is a five-part series of forums - all FREE and open to the public - held around the Des Moines metro to try to tackle one of the most important and difficult topics that tends to divide us. Instead of one talk, or just one story, let's get face to face as neighbors and try to move in a positive direction as a community.

One event remains:
2. One Night United, 7:00 pm, May 6 at Olmsted Center, Drake University featuring Jose Antonio Vargas and Chicago band Sidewalk Chalk: Facebook | Free Registration

YMCA Healthy Kids Day!

Head over to the John R. Grubb YMCA on April 30th, from 9AM-Noon, for their 4th annual Healthy Kids Day! This FREE event is open to parents and kids ages 5-13 years old. There will be over 20 bikes raffled off, mini-pony rides, games to play, and information on great family resources. From 9-10AM, Superheros will be there! They will also offer FREE vision screenings for children. Get all the details here!
