Golden Tee for Rylan!

11 yr old Rylan is fighting his second battle with Neuroblastoma. Rylan loves to golf and play arcade games and wanted the 2016 Golden Tee Home Arcade System. Kellsie's Hope was able to provide him with the arcade game, a television, pink & yellow practice golf balls, and a golf galaxy gift card. Rylan also received a foursome to Indian Hills Golf Course in Mt. Vernon & a foursome and an overnight stay at Rend Lake Golf Course. Professional Nursing Scholarship Recipient!

Kellsie's Hope Foundation recently awarded a $500 Professional Nursing Scholarship at St. Louis Children's Hospital. Kellsie's Hope offers this scholarship to a Pediatric Oncology staff member who is pursuing a nursing degree, a graduate degree, or who wish to attend an accredited conference or workshop related to the care of Pediatric Oncology patients.

The second recipient of the Kellsie's Hope Professional Nursing Scholarship is Kimberly Bira. Kimberly is an RN in the 9S Hematology/Oncology Clinic at St. Louis Children's Hospital.Kimberly's journey into the Pediatric Oncology world began when she was being treated for acute lymphocytic leukemia twice as a child.

In her winning essay Kimberly stated, "Being on the other side of the needle, so you may say, is an interesting and meaningful experience. It allows me to see and understand cancer in a new light. I Joyfully cheer as a patient rings the "end of treatment" bell and watch as the entire department embraces this victory. The next day, I sit with a family who has just begun their cancer journey. The cycle is vicious and challenging on the heart, but holding onto those triumphs, both big and small, keeps me focused, compassionate and devoted".

Kimberly chose to pursue a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree through Creighton University with a specialty in Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Upon graduation, her goal is to work as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in an oncology unity.
