AGM wrap up

Thanks to those who came to our Annual General Meeting on April 23. In case you missed it, here’s what went down! Members voted to adopt new mission, vision, values and goals that better reflect Regina Cat Rescue’s (RCR) role and work in the city. Members also voted to accept the nominees for the 2016-2017 board of directors, though a search is on for a volunteer to serve as the Vice-President of RCR (if you’re interested, please email us!). You can check out additional documents from the meeting including our 2015 audited financial statements, updated Bylaws and Code of Ethics and the 2015-2016 President’s report on the governance section of our website.

RCR's annual garage sale

Our annual fundraising garage sale is happening from June 2-4, and we need your help! You can help Regina’s abandoned cats by donating items (in good/working condition), helping set up, sort and price items, or by working at the garage sale. Donations will be accepted starting on Tuesday, May 23 at 3338 Westminster Road. If you can volunteer to help out, please email us. And remember to stop by the garage sale in June to support RCR by purchasing some goods, enjoying a hot dog and other treats! More details about the garage sale will be available soon on our upcoming events page.

Dillon the travellin' cat

RCR volunteers encounter countless wonderful and interesting cats during their rescue work with Regina’s abandoned cats and kittens, but sometimes there’s one that’s just so unique that we have to share their story – and this is the case with Dillon. Read Dillon’s story here.

May's Metro Cat

Thanks to Metro Pet Market for Spaying It Forward! This month, Metro paid for Tamara’s spay surgery as part of their on-going mission to foster responsible pet guardianship. Tamara is a sweet and affectionate girl who came into Regina Cat Rescue’s care when her owner became terminally ill and desperately needed to know that Tamara would be safe. Now Tamara is spayed and ready for adoption! Check out her adoption profile here and for more info about Metro Pet Market, please visit their website.

Rock Out for Catz & Dogz

It’s time for the third annual Rock Out for Catz & Dogz event! All the fun goes down on Thursday, May 19 at the Turvey Centre Lounge (100 Armour Road, Regina). Tickets are $25 and include a burger, fries and a 12 oz draft or pop, plus the music of four great bands. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. with entertainment beginning at 8:30 p.m. Music by Wild Fire Tribal Vibes (World music), Dangerous Cheese (80’s music), Sonic Orchid (70’s, 80’s, 90’s hits) and The Rum Runners (90’s & new rock). Get your tickets (cash only) at Vintage Vinyl (2335 11th Avenue), Metro Pet Market locations (3951 Rochdale Bvld & 1637 Victoria Ave), online at the Turvey Centre website or by emailing us. Proceeds support RCR and Bright Eyes Dog Rescue.

Canada Life gives back

Canada Life is celebrating 125 years of service and is marking the occasion by generously donating 125 $1,000 employee grants to organizations where their employees have volunteered more than 50 hours in a single year. Two RCR volunteers, Connie Yasinowski and France Watters, thoughtfully applied for a grant for their volunteer work and were each awarded a $1,000 donation to RCR. Thanks so much to Canada Life for giving back to the community, and to Connie and France for their dedication and support! This $2,000 donation will go a long way to help care for Regina’s abandoned cats!

Meet Ella!

This month’s feature cat is Ella. Ella is a lovely and good-natured cat who is looking for her forever home. She loves pets and cuddles and has integrated well with the other animals in her foster home. Check out Ella’s adoption profile here.
Photo of the Month! Mr. Mosbey is a tame cat who was stray for a long time. Some people think it's okay to abandon cats because they will just revert to a wild state and survive, but it’s cruel. Mr. Mosbey suffered starvation, bite and scratch wounds from cat fights, and severe matting that required a full body shave. He's a sweet, gentle boy who's happy to have been rescued and will be available for adoption soon.
