MP Nigel Adams Takes Flare Ban Further
Last fortnight we talked about MP Nigel Adams aiming to ban all flares at festivals and music events but now he's taken it a step further and is trying to introduce it as a new amendment in the Policing and Crime Bill currently doing the rounds. Under his proposal punters setting off fireworks or flares could be prosecuted and face fines or a prison sentence of up to 3 months. Adams put forward his amendment proposal in the House of Commons on Tuesday afternoon with cross-party support so it is likely to make it into the new legislation. More info on CMU here.

Live Nation Takes Majority Stake In the Warehouse Project
Last week it was announced that Live Nation had acquired a majority stake in Manchester's The Warehouse Project and Parklife Festival. As part of the LN-Gaiety investment in Parklife, Simon Moran, Bob Angus and founders Sacha Lord-Marchionne and Sam Kandel, remain significant shareholders. 2016 sees the seventh instalment of Parklife taking place in Manchester in June, whereas The Warehouse Project hosts various club nights featuring live acts and DJs from all over the world. More info on Music Week here.

Drive Like Jehu's ATP Cancelled
After countless cancellation rumours and a confirmed venue change, Drive Like Jehu's ATP has officially been cancelled. Stewart Lee's ATP went ahead at the Pontins venue as planned but the Drive Like Jehu festival had been plagued with issues since the announcement of the venue relocation. Punters who purchased tickets for the original holiday camp were not provided with the alternative accommodation options in time for this weekend's event and many of the artist agreements were also not met. More info on CMU here.

Initiatives
AIF PARTNERS WITH TWICKETS AS OFFICIAL TICKETING RESELLER

Twickets is the UK's only face value ticket resale platform and was set up to counter the growing threat of the secondary platforms, which actively encourage ticket abuse for all types of events, particularly festivals.

It operates as an app, website and on social channels and has attracted an audience of nearly 500,000 through word-of-mouth alone.

Twickets work with event organisers to protect their pricing strategies and ensure that spare tickets are sold on fairly and securely to other fans. Furthermore buying and selling patterns are closely monitored on the platform to prevent abuse by touts.

Last summer Twickets successfully partnered with the AIF to provide a resale facility to some members including Kendal Calling, Barn on the Farm, Secret Garden Party and Eden Sessions. Recently the resale platform has been used by Adele, Mumford and Sons, Catfish and The Bottlemen, The 1975 and The Last Shadow Puppets on their UK tours.

Twickets has partnered again with AIF for 2016 and can customise a ticket resale solution to suit the needs of any AIF member. AIF members should get in touch with Paul Reed for more information.

'ACCESS STARTS ONLINE' IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING
Attitude is Everything is an Arts Council funded charity, working in partnership with audiences, artists and the music industry to improve accessibility for Deaf and disabled people. Advice and guidance is based on feedback from a network of mystery shoppers, and provided to venues and festivals across the UK through the Charter of Best Practice.

AIF and Attitude is Everything have worked closely over the past few years, running Disability Equality Training sessions for members and awarding several festivals with the Charter. This new initiative has been set up in response to a joint aspiration to see all AIF member festivals offering comprehensive and clear access information for potential Deaf and disabled customers.

The Association of Independent Festivals urges members to participate in this initiative and work to be awarded an Access Starts Online ‘stamp of approval’ ahead of 2016 events. You can find out more here.

UPCOMING INITIATIVES
AIF is developing initiatives and best practice guidance in the areas of harm prevention and drugs awareness, sexual safety at festivals and building connections between streaming services and festivals. More information to follow shortly.
