At a Time of Global Energy Transition
Chinese and American energy experts convened in New York last month for a closed-door U.S.-China Energy Track II Dialogue to discuss energy cooperation as the world shifts away from traditional fossil fuels. Organized by NCUSCR and the China Energy Fund Committee, several dialogue members also participated in a public program on the same topic.

Chinese Diplomats Deepen Understanding of the United States
Fourteen mid-career diplomats posted to the Chinese Embassy, Consulates, and Mission to the U.N., participated in a NCUSCR-run intensive two-week study tour to Colonial Williamsburg, Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, and New York.

NCUSCR Continues Its NGO Capacity Building Project
The National Committee is pleased to continue its work on the Professional Fellows Program, a U.S. State Department Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs-funded initiative.
Outbound | Five Americans with expertise in legal aid, child welfare and domestic violence, youth development, and community building among marginalized populations — and whose organizations hosted Chinese Fellows last year — spent two weeks in April working with Chinese program alumni and their colleagues.
Inbound | A new set of eight NGO professionals from China and Mongolia arrived last week to begin month-long fellowships at nonprofits around the country focused on environmental law; teenage pregnancy and sexual abuse; community involvement in conservation; AIDS education, prevention, and services; and labor protection.

On May 9, 2006, NCUSCR co-hosted then-Zhejiang Party Secretary Xi Jinping for Zheijiang Week in New York. The event promoted business and trade between the province and the United States. On Xi Jinping's left is Ambassador Liu Biwei, then-Consul General in New York.
