The NCAA Division II Committee on Infractions has ruled that a former Gannon men’s swimming and diving HC acted unethically when he provided $3,000 in extra financial aid to a S-A. The penalties and corrective measures prescribed by the committee include a public reprimand and censure and a three-year show-cause order for the former coach. - link
Minnesota Duluth AD Berlo has been selected to head the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's national search for the new WCHA VP and women's commissioner. The six-person search committee includes Bemidji State AC Fryklund, North Dakota (DI) Faculty Athletics Representative Jeno, Wisconsin (DI) HC Johnson, Minnesota State University-Mankato Faculty Athletics Representative Pribyl and WCHA President and Men's Commissioner Robertson. Berlo on the importance of bringing in the right person for the job, "Given the growth and popularity of women's hockey reaching new heights, this is an incredible opportunity and responsibility for the WCHA -- the nation's premier collegiate league -- to play a prominent role in leading the sport's continued development and advancement." - link
BYU-Hawaii AD and MBB HC Wagner and men's soccer HC Davis have announced they are leaving the school. Wagner is making the move to take a position helping the Taiwanese men's and women's national basketball teams, while Davis will coach the inaugural seasons for the Salt Lake Community College (NJCAA) men's and women's soccer teams. Wagner has overseen the athletic program for 21 seasons in both the NAIA and NCAA Division II and has been at the helm of Seasider men's basketball for 26 years. - link
Stonehill FB HC Talley is stepping down to take over as the Director of Development at Chico State. After turning around a downtrodden program during his nine years at Stonehill, Talley is making the transition out of coaching to relocate his young family back to his wife's home state of California. Stonehill AD O'Keefe was highly complimentary of his outgoing coach, "Rob's unwavering commitment to building a culture of excellence both on and off the field has produced more than simply wins and championships" - link, link
Confirming a previous report, Georgia State (DI) MBB AC Sullivan has been hired to be the head man at Lenior-Rhyne. LRU’s new AD Pate on the hire, “Coach Sullivan brings all the qualities necessary to develop and sustain a nationally contending NCAA DII basketball program that our campus, community, and alumni will continue to take great pride in. He brings a high level of character, playing and coaching experience, vast recruiting contacts, and most importantly a commitment to developing his players to their full potential both on and off the court." - link
Wayne State has announced that MBB HC Dolan will not be returning next season after three years at the school. The Wildcats finished last season with records of 5-24 overall and 3-19 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. - link
Southwest Minnesota State has announced the three finalists for the women's head coaching job. The finalists, who will interview on campus next week, include Friends (NAIA DII) WBB HC Boothe, Northland (DIII) WBB HC Tucker and Cameron WBB HC Webb. - link
After 27 years as Ohio Dominican's volleyball coach, Sandy Rowley will transition into a full-time position as Assistant Athletic Director and she will continue in her role as Senior Women's Administrator. AC Fekpe will take over as the volleyball head coach. AD Blair on Rowley's transition, "Having her shift her focus to administration will help all of our programs and student-athletes. Sandy has done an excellent job in that role already, and this position will provide additional support to the daily operations of the athletic department." - link

The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents has approved construction of a new $7m Recreational Sports facilities project at Texas A&M University-Kingsville that will add nearly 20 new digs. The project will add eight NCAA regulation tennis courts, six new NCAA beach volleyball courts and five intramural fields. The new beach volleyball courts will serve the newly added NCAA Beach Volleyball program and the addition of the NCAA tennis courts will now allow the Javelina tennis teams to play on campus. VP for Intercollegiate Athletics and Campus Recreations Gines is fired up about what the project will bring to the university, "This project is immeasurably exciting for our students and programs. It is a response to student body growth on a residential campus." - link
After a year out of coaching, former Shorter MBB HC Warner has resurfaced as the new director of basketball operations at Valparaiso (DI). Warner was named NABC National Coach of the Year in 2011-12, leading Shorter to 34 wins, the no. 1 ranking nationally and a spot in the NAIA Fab Four, and then guided the Hawks in their transition to NCAA Division II in 2012-13. - link
In response to state legislatures passing anti-LGBTQ laws, the NCAA board of governors adopted a new requirement for sites hosting or bidding on NCAA events in all divisions to demonstrate how they will provide an environment that is safe, healthy, and free of discrimination, plus safeguards the dignity of everyone involved in the event. - link
Big one snuck by us last month, but Academy of Art Sr Advisor to Athletics Tumey, formerly AD at Dominican of CA, was named Director of Athletics, Physical Education & Recreational Services at Claremont McKenna-Harvey Mudd-Scripps Colleges (DIII). The presidents of CMS wrote in a letter on the athletics website that in Tumey they have "found a leader of strong character, competitive spirit, and a core commitment to educational opportunity and growth. Terry will set the highest academic, personal, and athletic goals for our outstanding CMS athletic program and strengthen the value of intramurals, club sports, physical education, fitness, and health for our community." - link

+ Northern State will host the 20th Annual NSU Football Golf Tournament and Auction on June 10th. The entry fee is $125 per player if pre-registered for the event, or $150 per player on the day of the event. Hole sponsorships are $150. - link
+ Nova Southeastern will host its sixth annual A Night in Roma event benefitting the Tony Segreto Athletic Scholarship Fund on June 14th. Tickets are $100 each and sponsorship packages range from $2,500 to $10,000. - link

Profile on California State University San Marcos T&F HC Scott, who is a former Olympian and cancer survivor. To this day, Scott holds the world record for running the mile under four minutes, 136 times. The former three-time 1500m DII champion came to CSUSM when Bob Mangrum donated money to build Mangrum Track in 1999. Scott has since been honored 10 times as the Association of Independent Institutions’ Cross Country Coach of the Year and three times as the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year. Scott on the fulfillment he gets from coaching, "It is not just coaching out here on the field, it’s being a counselor to them, being a father, being an advisor. You’re helping them grow during these difficult years, so to see them mature and graduate, to see them achieve what they wanted athletically, it is way more rewarding because you are giving. It is not all about me, it is all about them.” - link
Minnesota Duluth has been awarded an Ethnic Minority and Women's Internship Grant from the NCAA for the 2016-17 school year. The program provides funding for entry-level administrative positions at NCAA Division II schools and conference offices to encourage access, recruitment, selection and the long-term success of ethnic minorities and women. As part of the grant internship, the NCAA provides $22,500 to support the salary of the hired intern and $3,000 in professional development funding. - link
