FLUSHING WIPES CLOGS PIPES

Here’s a public service announcement that could save you from a bathroom disaster: Never flush any product besides toilet paper down your toilet, including any type of wipe, even if it’s labeled “flushable.” Baby wipes and household cleaning wipes should always go into the trash, never the toilet. Even if your pipes don’t get clogged with these wipes, flushing them will cause problems down the line. CLICK HERE to learn how flushing wipes clogs pipes.

OUR VOLUNTEERS ARE THE BEST!

Last year was a big year for volunteer support for the City of St. Peters. Our volunteers donated 9,631 hours of their time in 2015—the most hours since 2004 when the City hosted the U.S. Olympic Diving Trials. We had 193 official “regular” volunteers last year and another 600 “episodic” volunteers (who help at one-time special events). Our regular volunteers saved the City nearly $70,000 last year—an increase of almost $18,500 over the previous year! Just how important are our volunteers? Our City staff tells you in THIS MUST-SEE VIDEO. The video drew tears at this year's Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast, where we honored all of our volunteers and handed out awards.
Pictured above: Luvenia Henry, left, receives a gold level Presidential Volunteer Service Award from Mayor Len Pagano and Volunteer Specialist Jessica Heslin for volunteering more than 500 hours in 2015. Luvenia also received the the highest honor, the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award, for completing more than 4,000 total hours of volunteer service.

CLEAN STREAMS DAY

What a success! A total of 486 volunteers cleaned 6,244 pounds of waste from our community’s streams during our spring Clean Streams Day event on April 16. We recycled 2,584 pounds of this total. This year’s event had 100 more volunteers than 2015, and we collected 2,444 more pounds of material. Great job, volunteers! Plus, this was considered a “zero waste” event through recycling and composting. A total of 64 pounds of compostable food items from breakfast and lunch service went to Earth Centre.

TRASH DELAYED FOR MEMORIAL DAY

St. Peters only delays trash on those holidays that the landfill is closed.
Yard signs will be placed at the entrance to each subdivision alerting you to the delay.  Download a collection schedule.
