3D Printing

April 29, 2016

Whats up guys!

Light digest this week.

It's still quite entertaining though -- how can it not be when Donald Trump is featured?

Not only that, we are saving 100 pound turtles and theorizing about 3D Printing habitable enclosures in space.

My favorite word this week: Ephemeralization - a term coined by R. Buckminster Fuller, is the ability of technological advancement to do “more and more with less and less until eventually you can do everything with nothing”

Until next week,

Your neighborhood ruffian & 3D Printing geek,

Injured Sea Turtle Gets His Bite Back With 3D Printed Jaw

BTech - NBC

Interesting case study in ocean conservation & 3D Printing: An injured loggerhead sea turtle has been equipped with a 3-D printed prosthetic jaw at a rehabilitation center in Turkey. Akut-3, named after the search and rescue team that found him, had been struck by a boat's propeller and his jaw nearly destroyed.

3D Printing Habitable Enclosures On The Moon

European Space Agency - YouTube

The European Space Agency is theorizing the idea of potentially 3D Printing habitable enclosures on the moon. It's an interesting approach, but still too new to be "production ready". The relevant part starts around 2:56, but the entire video is quite entertaining.

Donald Trump on 3D Printing

Donald Trump - YouTube

I am not paying attention to the election(s) here in the U.S, but I was certainly amused when a friend sent me this clip of Trump mentioning 3D Printing as one of the fields the U.S should focus on to maintain "technological superiority". This should go well together with a 3D Printed Trump Butt Plug. Comedy.

BoxBotix: Open Source, 3D Printable Robotics Kit

BoxBotix - BoxBotix

This is not 100% 3D Printing related, but it's still interesting. BoxBotix is an open source robotics kit and most of the parts can be 3D Printed. This is an excellent project for educators introducing 3D Printing to their students or the casual tinkerer.
