SCHOLASTIC SUMMER SCHEDULE
Summer is just around the corner. That means time off from school and preparation for an upcoming sports season. For athletes, Athletic Lab’s Summer schedule provides an opportunity to maximize performance through multiple daily class sessions geared specifically to improve qualities needed to excel in sport.
 
ATHLETIC LAB TO HOST HIGH PERFORMANCE COACHES CONFERENCE IN MAY
Athletic Lab is proud to announce we will host the first Proformance Strength & Conditioning Conference in North America. The two day conference will feature some of the best minds in sports performance. The keynote speaker will be Boo Schexnayder. Boo is a master coach who has coached countless NCAA, USA Track & Field, World Championship and Olympic medalists and he is widely regarded as one of the foremost coach educators in the world. 
MEMBER OF THE MONTH

One of the things that makes Athletic Lab so great is our members. And there’s no one who embodies that more at Athletic Lab than Barry Myers. That’s why for the month of April, Barry has been selected as our Member of the Month. Barry is fresh off another national championship in weightlifting.
 
UNIVERSITY SOCCER PREP RETURNS THIS SUMMER
Athletic Lab’s highly successful University Prep Soccer Program will be returning this summer. This eight week program will take place from June 6th to July 29th. This program is for all current and incoming collegiate soccer athletes.

This program will focus on soccer specific and injury prevention training to prepare college athletes for the upcoming season. Each 90 minute session will develop soccer strength, speed, power, and conditioning.

 
TWO DAY USAW SANCTIONED MEET THIS SUMMER
Athletic Lab has a track record of putting on some of the largest and best single day weightlifting meets in North Carolina. This summer we’re hosting a massive two day USAW sanctioned event on July 16th and 17th. The female weight classes will compete on Saturday, July 16th and the male weight classes will compete on Sunday, July 17th.
 
FROM OUR BLOG...
Athletic Lab’s Director of Scholastic Training, Nick Newman, recently earned his Track & Field Technical Certification (TFTC) from the USTFCCCA’s Coaches Academy. Newman is a track & field athlete and coach himself and the author of The Horizontal Jumps: Planning For Long Term Development – one of the leading books on the jumping events.
Athletic Lab’s Endurance group sent a team of 10 athletes to participate in the Charlotte Spartan Sprint. Athletic Lab coach and Director of Private Training Stephanie Funderburk won the women’s division besting all female competitors and coming in 98th overall. The team placed 36th out of 660 teams.
Last weekend, Athletic Lab’s Dr. Mike Young presented at the Proformance Child to Champion Conference in Gloucester, UK. Young provided a workshop and 2 lectures over the 3 day long term athlete development conference. Young’s workshop focused on Velocity Based Training and provided insight on how we have used and implemented it at Athletic Lab.
The masters athletes on the Athletic Lab weightlifting team travelled to Savannah, GA last weekend to compete in the Masters National championship. The team was represented by four athletes. The team was lead by Barry Myers who kept his stranglehold on national or international championships.
