The Science Behind Wave Seeding
The goal of wave seeding is to place skiers in equal sized groups that best match their abilities. When determining wave seeding, we use the best available information such as a skiers previous Birkie or Korte result.  If a prior Birkie or Korte result is unavailable, the next best option is a recent qualifying race result which we then calibrate for easy comparison to a Birkie result.  Read more...

April Shoe Review: Whether you already run trails or want to give it a try, have fun checking out the latest trail running shoes. Here’s the run-down from Josh Korn, Salomon Regional Marketing Manager and die-hard Birkie skier and runner.
“The S-Lab Wings is absolutely my favorite shoe we have ever made.  It is the correct balance between lightness, protection, and grip.  Unlike previous versions of the S-lab Wings products, this is the first to come without a chassis. This increases the flexibility of the shoe and makes it a bit lighter. The outsole is a brand new premium wet traction compound that is amazing on wet and dry terrain. The traditional 9mm heel to toe drop is perfect for long races such as the Birkie Trail run.”

The importance of Neck-sercise
Anyone who embraces the Birkie lifestyle is certainly committed to regular exercise – and most of us know that staying active promotes healthy sleep as well as keeps our bodies fit. But one muscle group that may not get as much love as it should is your neck. And, surprisingly, neck exercises may have some of the most impact when it comes to good sleep. A strong neck can help reduce instances of sleep apnea, improve poor posture and reduce stiffness – three major contributors to poor sleep. For more information and a few specific neck-training exercises you can implement at home, read what our partners at Reverie have learned on the subject of exercise and good sleep.

End of Ski Season Prep
With ski season over, take some time to prepare your skis for next season. Here are a few tips from Bruce:
Hot wiping- Apply a layer of soft wax (yellow or red) and scrape off while still warm to help remove stubborn debris from your bases.
Fluoro Glide Wax Remover- Highly recommended if you use a lot of high or pure fluoro waxes throughout the season. More effective than a hot wipe for race skis. Apply, brush with a stiff nylon brush to remove stubborn wax and debris, wipe off with Fiberlene, let sit for several minutes, then brush out with soft nylon.
Stone Grind- If you want a total care package, and have your skis ready to run at high speed right away next season, a stone grind with a hot box treatment is the way to go. You will have clean, fast skis totally ready for storage.
Storage Wax- Once your bases are cleaned, apply a healthy layer of warm wax (yellow or red). Keeping a coating of wax on your skis during the off season will help protect them from scratches, dirt, and oxidation.
Ferrules- If you plan to do any roller-skiing this summer, now is a great time to get your ferrules changed out, the Swix TBS series poles make changing baskets/ferrules a breeze.  Visit

Keep Your Computer Running in Tip Top Shape!
It seems like every time you turn around there is a new virus of sorts waiting to make its way into your computer or device. In fact, it was recently determined that there is a new variant of ransomware going around.  For those who are unfamiliar with the term, ransomware is a type of malicious software designed to block access to a computer system until a sum of money is paid.  The hacker essentially holds your computer files hostage until he/she gets what he/she wants.  To find out more about how you can protect yourself visit
Norvado’s Facebook page .  Also, did you know Norvado has a great Computer Repair department?  Check it out on the computer repair sectionof www.Norvado.com or call 715-798-7184 to get your computer running in tip top shape!
