Electronic-skin display demonstrated by Tokyo researchers

University of Tokyo researchers have developed an ultrathin, flexible, protective layer and demonstrated its use by creating an air-stable, organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display. The technology will enable the creation of electronic-skin (e-skin) displays of blood oxygen level, e-skin heart rate sensors for athletes and other applications. [More]

Nano-enhanced textiles clean themselves with light

Researchers at Australia’s RMIT Univeristy have developed an inexpensive and efficient new way to grow nanostructures on textiles that can degrade organic matter when exposed to light. The work paves the way toward nano-enhanced textiles that can clean themselves by being put under a light bulb or worn in sunlight. [More]
