Step Forward to End Violence Against Women
Sunday August 28th, 2016

Interim Place’s 5th Annual Steps to End Violence Against Women Walk is on Sunday, August 28th, 2016 from 9:30am – 12:30pm at J.C. Saddington Park in Port Credit, and we invite you to join us!

The Steps to End Violence Against Women Walk is an opportunity for you to show your commitment to ending violence against women in Peel.  It is also an opportunity to honour the women who have lost their lives to gender-based violence in Peel Region and the women and children who have contacted us or walked through our doors. Get a team of coworkers, friends or loved ones together, and step forward to end violence against women! Save $30 by registering your team (of up to 10 members) before June 15th  with the early bird price of $70!  Additionally, you can register as an individual participant for $40.

As this is our 5th year hosting this event, our fundraising goal is an ambitious $50,000, and we need your support to reach it! If you participated last year, registering again couldn’t be easier!  Go to “register”, click the type of registration you want (individual, create a team or join a team) and on the next page click “returning participant” and login using your username and password from last year.

Please find a copy of our
flyer here, which we encourage you to share and use to reach out to others who can also support Interim Place and the women and children we serve. If you would like more information about this event, please contact Julia Robinson, Development Coordinator at
905-403-9691 ext. 2223 or email
development@interimplace.com.

Please visit our walk website, http://interimplace.akaraisin.com/steps2016, for more information and to register to walk.

We look forward to walking with you and taking the steps towards ending violence against women!

Why We Walk
  • Honour the 32 Women and Girls who have lost their lives to violence in the past 10 years in Peel.
  • Honour the Women and Children we serve and those who need to access our services for their courage and resilience.
  • Make a statement that Violence Against Women is unacceptable and it is time we take a “step forward” to end violence in our community!
  • Raise funds to support Women and Children currently being supported by Interim Place through our Shelters & Community Support and Outreach Program

The walk begins with a vigil for the 32 women and girls whom have lost their lives to gender-based violence in Peel Region in the last 10 years.  Participants will make their way to the site of Interim Place’s original safe haven, where a memorial plaque now sits at the Brueckner Rhododendron Gardens.

Words cannot describe how much your support and participation matters. It is reaffirming for the women and children we serve. They have a sense of hope when they leave, knowing that people like you truly care about them for taking that step to live a life free of violence and for that, we sincerely appreciate your involvement.
