Hello again from BiPhoria
What's On...
This Tuesday, May 3rd, is our monthly
BiPhoria "talky space" meeting for bisexual people (and those who think they might be bi).
Join us at the LGBT Foundation, 5 Richmond Street, M1 3HF. 7.30pm start for new members.
Our next Hot Beverages meet is on
Sunday 15th, at the Vienna
Coffee House, Mosley Street, central Manchester - just across the tram tracks from City Art Gallery.
We meet from 1pm: look for the table with a lion on it.
As usual there's a
bi pub meet two weeks later on
Tuesday 17th from 8pm at the Waterhouse, next to Manchester Town Hall. Again, look for the lion (pictured above) - we're usually in one of the rooms toward the back of the pub.
IDAHOTB?
The 17th is also International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, so if you are coming to our pub meet might want to pop along to the event at Sackville Park beforehand from 6pm - 7pm. As in previous years, there will be speakers and a minute’s silence for people to reflect and lay flowers on the Beacon of Hope.
This year’s theme is on mental health and wellbeing and a variety of speakers from the LGBT communities will be sharing their experiences. Music will be provided by Manchester Lesbian & Gay Chorus (MLGC). Confirmed speakers so far are Human Rights Activist Aderonke Apata; Sarah Evans, Creative Director of Art with Heart; Body Image and Eating Disorder Advisor Daniel Perry; and Paul Martin, Chief Executive of LGBT Foundation.
Sporty?
Experienced biphobia or homophobia in sport?
Over the years we've heard from BiPhoria attendees of their good and bad experiences in both mainstream and gay sports groups. The government is running a consultation on the subject which closes this Friday so you might want to share your story with them -
find out more here.
That's all our bi news for now... More next month :)

PS If you're not in or around Manchester you might want to watch the
BCN magazine weekly bi diary for details of bi meetups elsewhere in the UK and Ireland. There's more going on out there than for years!
