Welcome to ECG's monthly newsletter, providing insights and advice about all things HR!
August 2016

Well the summer is in full swing, and so is the heat! We are certainly taking a beating this year, and would like to remind you of California’s heat illness standards. Please make sure you meet all legal requirements as it pertains to keeping your employees safe from heat exhaustion and illnesses.

If your employees work primarily inside, but still have to drive various places during their workday, make sure you remind them to take care in this dreadful climate!

If you are planning an annual Company picnic, now might not be the best time to do that because of the heat. Other suggestions for promoting good employee relations might be a bowling day in a cool, air-conditioned environment, a movie outing, or even an evening dinner event to thank your employees for a job well done. Promoting good employee relations doesn’t always have to cost the company money – Inside teambuilding events and games are fun too!

Partner Highlight – Bolton & Company

We first became associated with Bolton & Company back in 2009, when we worked alongside the Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, and have referred them to many of our clients since then. We have been most impressed with their professionalism as well as the products they offer. We are honored to have Bolton & Company as one of our business partners.

About Bolton & Company, by Paul Palkovic

“We all remember The Story of the Three Bears – one small, one large and one that was just right. Most employers use a broker that is either much larger than Bolton or a lot smaller. What makes Bolton unique is our commitment to maintaining the personalized approach of a small broker while providing the internal services, expertise and market reach of a large national broker.

Bolton & Company is one of the few mid-sized independently owned Commercial Insurance and Employee Benefits brokers in Southern California. Headquartered in Pasadena, Bolton is a trusted provider of insurance and non-insurance resources and solutions to clients in the state, throughout the country and across the globe. We maintain an in-house team of Safety and Claims Management specialists to help companies with high experience modifications take control of their Workers Compensation costs. Additionally, Bolton’s internal Employee Benefits Compliance Department supports our clients as they strive to understand and comply with rapidly changing state and federal laws.

My team and I bring Bolton’s deep bench of services and resources to help our clients protect their most valuable asset — their employees. We specialize in providing Workers’ Compensation and Employee Benefits programs to business leaders responsible for workforces ranging between 50 to 500 employees.”
