Hello <<First Name>>

July has been a very busy month, and I'm delighted to announce some changes that have been implemented, or will be arriving soon, to make life easier for our bridge teachers.  I've been listening to your feedback and have been working on updating the Teacher section of the ABF website to make it easier to find what you need.

Teachers can now register to join the ABF Accreditation Programme, and can now complete the Teacher Training Program and Modern Bidding Methods units online. There will be more changes coming, including the ability for participants to check where they are at in the Accreditation process. If you have any suggestions or feedback, please let me know.

Bridge teachers are invited to a free lunch funded by the ABF & NSWBA at this year's Coffs Coast Gold Congress. This special lunch is a great opportunity to network, learn and share experiences with other bridge teachers.
The lunch follows the Friday morning Celebrity Speakers program. I will cover the Drury Convention, while David Beauchamp will talk about Bridge Myths & Truths.
Attendance is free at all sessions, but please RSVP ASAP to secure your place. To RSVP email joan@joanbuttsbridge.com.

Barbara Conquest
I first discovered bridge about twenty years ago and I decided to become a Bridge Teacher because I feel strongly about the need for people to be able to learn bridge and fill their spare time with such a stimulating activity.

My dream is to one day gain enough support to travel and teach as many people as I can to keep Duplicate Bridge alive in the small Island nations.

Julia and Bruce Hendry
Seven years ago Julia started a small, not for profit, community club. To attract and keep new players we needed to provide lessons. We were unable, on the small gold coin contribution players make, to afford a tutor and so decided to do it ourselves.

CLUB NEWS

Teachers and clubs are encouraged to submit news, photos and stories via teaching@abf.com.au

Teaching bridge in a small community
Hawks Nest Bridge Club is unusual in at least three ways.   Firstly it is officially described as “remote” by the ABF; secondly the average age of our community is about 21 years older than the national figure and thirdly the bridge participation rate is about 15, yes fifteen times higher than the NSW average.
