Happening This Week at Lordship Community Church

Pastor Jeff will be away from the church, at Silver Lake Conference Center, from Saturday, July 23 through Saturday, July 30. During this time, should you be in need of pastoral care, please contact either the church office (203-377-6568) or one of the co-chairs of the Deacons, Wendy Simon or Laureen Warner. They will contact the On-Call pastor who will then be in touch with you.

SUNDAY, JULY 31, 2016 - during worship

The Baptism of Valerie Sue Hanna, daughter of Mark & Susan Hanna, will be celebrated.

A RECEPTION & BABY SHOWER will take place after the worship service at the home of Laureen Warner & Tom Biroscak, 12 Hobson Avenue, Milford (Laureen – 475-549-8646).

The reception will be in honor of Valerie, and the baby shower will be for Wendy Simon who welcomed a son Riley Finn Simon on May 6, 2016 with husband John Simon.

All are invited to attend.

“GOOD START PROGRAM” —
COLLECTING DONATIONS of SCHOOL ITEMS !!

Backpacks and school supply donations will be accepted at the beach service—7/31—
to support the “Good Start” program run by Sterling House Community Center.
The “Good Start” program, in its 14^th year, provides free backpacks and school supplies to youth in need, at the beginning of the school year. If you have a donation in support of this program, please bring it to the beach service; items are being collected, by Sterling House, through August 15.
New backpacks are always in need.
Other (new) items needed are: pens, pencils, pencil boxes/cases, markers, crayons, rulers, index cards, lunch boxes, construction paper, tape, glue, correction fluid, calculators, and multi-subject spiral notebooks.

School Supply Donations:  Are you cleaning out the kids’ backpacks and desks? If you have spare unused, or like-new backpacks and unused school supplies, please consider donating them now for the School Backpack Drive of 2016. There is a box in the Narthex closet for these items.

Summer Food Donations:  Please remember the kids who are home for the summer and do not have access to the schools’ breakfast and lunch programs. Boxes of cereal, oatmeal, crackers and cracker snack-packs, peanut butter/jelly, raisins, granola bars, and juice boxes are great items to donate and it’s something they can fix by themselves.

A sign-up sheet is in the narthex for Summer Coffee Hours.

Small coffee hours are in the plans for August and possibly September 4. Summer coffee hours will take place in the narthex after worship.
Volunteers are sought to sponsor a Sunday, during this time, to bring refreshments of their choice. Lemonade and iced tea are suggested items, as well as, baked goods.
**If you are not currently active on a committee that sponsors monthly coffee hours, and you would like to participate to sponsor a coffee hour, the summer is a good time to help fill this fellowship need.

"Lordship Run-About" 5K Road Race & Fun Run
23rd Annual - Saturday, 9/10/16
Kid’s fun run - 8:30 A.M.
5K ROAD RACE – 9:00 A.M.

Sponsorship Agreements are available in the narthex and by contacting the office.
There are 4 levels of sponsorship: $500, $250, $100, and $50. For your sponsorship, you will receive the new complimentary Sport-Tek Dri T-shirt. Donations are tax-deductible. The sponsorship deadline is August 15, 2016.

Road Race Entry Forms are available in the narthex and by contacting the office.
The entry fee for the 5K is $20 if paid by 9/9; and then $23 after 9/9. The entry fee for the Fun Run is $5. The Teen Team Special is $12/person if entries are received together. T-shirts are distributed to all pre-registered 5K & Kid Fun Run participants and the 1^st 100 race-day runners. 5K Awards to 1st Male & Female Finishers; 1st Male & Female Lordship Finishers; 3 deep into 10 year age group through 60+. Teen Team Competition – Award to top Male & Female; 4 person team 18 & under.
Course: The course is extremely flat and scenic; USATF certified.

Raffle Items for the Race would be appreciated.
Gift certificates ($10-$25) are best for either: coffee houses; Staples; restaurants; or ice cream shops. Please forward these to the Race Committee or leave at the office.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – This is a big event for the church and volunteers are in need to fill various positions. Sign-up sheets will be in the narthex for those who are interested in lending a hand!
FOOD DONATIONS SOUGHT – A sign-up sheet will be in the narthex for needed food donations for the race. Please sign-up by Tuesday, September 6, 2016!
