Northwest Area Ministers Gatherings Resume Aug 11
It was a busy summer and for a few, early August brings the beginning of school year while some sneak in a little time away before September arrives. Your peers and colleagues in the Northwest Area begin their monthly gatherings again on August 11 as they join the last session of the Clergy Retreat, sponsored by the Northwest Area, at Roman Nose State Park. The gathering will begin at 10am in the lodge, and you are encouraged to attend even if you are not attending the retreat. The meeting will include information about Health Insurance Options as the Pension Fund ends the Healthcare Trust on Dec 31 and Clergy Self Care. Lunch will close the meeting at Roman Nose in their dining room.

Take and Eat? When church members prefer just a blessing
Heidi Haverkamp | The Christian Century | July 26, 2016
In the Gospels, Jesus welcomes Nicodemus’s questions under cover of night, welcomes a shamed and lonely woman’s conversation at a well, and welcomes Judas’s company at the Last Supper. “Love bade me welcome,†writes George Herbert, “yet my soul drew back.†Even when we are unable or unwilling to believe we are part of the body, God comes to meet us—even at the threshold, if we can’t quite sit and eat.

Is Faith Rational, Irrational, or Arational?
The Public Square | Patheos.com
The tension between faith and reason is most prominent in Christian circles, but is to some degree a factor in every contemporary religious expression. Some argue that faith is a reasonable approach to reality, whereas others might argue that it must be a blind leap that transcends reason, and still others argue that it has no relationship to reason whatsoever. What does your faith tradition teach about reason and belief? Click here to read more.
