Non-road mobile machinery new rules adopted
On 18 July, the Council formally adopted new EU rules on emission limits for internal combustion engines in non-road mobile machinery (including inland waterway vessels), approved earlier this month by the European Parliament during its plenary session. The legislation, steered through the Parliament by Italian Rapporteur Elisabetta Gardini (EPP - Christian Democrats) will enter into force 20 days after its publication in the Official Journal of European Union (OJEU).

EBI debates nautical tourism in Parliament
Before the summer recess at EU level, European Boating Industry President Piero Formenti was invited to speak at the roundtable on “Maritime and Coastal Tourism: Challenges and Opportunities” at the European Parliament.

From 1 July 2016 (until 31 December the same year) Slovakia has been holding the Presidency of the EU Council, succeeding the Netherlands.
