Hi All!
Here’s your weekly dose of FIVER FRIDAY, a list of what I've found useful or informational this week concerning education.
PBVCon 2.0--
PBVCon 2.0 is just around the corner--August 10th, 11th, and 12th! I am extremely excited about these three days; the presenters are excellent, and teachers will be able to fully personalize their own professional development!
Three Minute Thrillers--
Three Minute Thrillers will start back up in a couple weeks, but since you're a FIVER FRIDAY subscriber, you'll get the first one right now, right here. This Three Minute Thriller is about the new grading feature in Google Forms.
Something cool from AVID--
I attended my 6th AVID Summer Institute this week, and I saw a really great video explaining how Cornell Notes can help students retain information by continually returning to their notes. You can see this video here. I highly recommend sharing this with your staff (and maybe even the students!).
What I'm Watching--
Stranger Things on Netflix was the surprise of the summer in terms of TV shows. Imagine a mix of E.T., Close Encounters of the Third Kind, John Carpenter movies, Stephen King novels, and a whole lot of '80s nostalgia--That's what Stranger Things is. Why am I including it in a weekly newsletter that's primarily concerned with education? I'm doing so because of the characters; this show is a great reminder of the wonder of childhood, and as educators we must make school a place where learning is exciting and full of possibility--just like Stranger Things.
Quote I'm pondering--
“Everything that needs to be said has already been said. But, since no one was listening, everything must be said again.”--Andre Gide
