Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

As summer continues, baseball games are in full swing! Nick plays baseball three times a week with the boys in Teabo. The games are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday after Baxal Paal and run for about an hour and a half. Even though it is midday and the hottest time of the day, the boys still come and play their hearts out!

Painting your Community: Art Workshop

This week in kid's activities, we had the pleasure of hosting Patricia Loret de Mola and her team for a wonderful art workshop. The children were given a little bit of white paint and were able to pick one other color. With the white paint and the one color of their choosing, the kids painted something of significance for their community. The workshop was very successful in both Teabo and Chumayel. We had a turnout of 82 in Teabo and 49 in Chumayel!

What Lays Ahead!

This upcoming week, Fundacion Cielo will be working with the local government of Teabo on a segment of Baxal Paal, which is the government-provided summer school for students. We plan on holding geography classes and organizing an Olympic-theme tournament in honor of the Olympics starting in August!

With the conclusion of Health Week, it feels like time is moving too fast. I only have two full weeks left and Sarah is leaving next week. Who would've thought that the summer would've passed by so quickly. Thinking about leaving soon is a bittersweet thought; I'm excited to have my mom's food, but at the same time, I am going to miss the panuchos from Chumayel very much. I am also going to miss the kids and all the people that I have become close with dearly. I hope to make the best of the two weeks that I have left in Teabo!
