August 1 | The horses' birthday
August 1 is celebrated as the Horse's Birthday. The date is chosen as the official birth date of all horses in the southern hemisphere as it falls at the beginning of the foaling season. This allows all foals born in that season to be considered the same age for competition purposes.

President's Shield | Friday 2 September
It is with great pleasure to announce that our 2015 nominee is "mother of the bride" Sue.
Please come along to cheer and yell and then try to out swing Sue on the dance floor. A difficult feat as Sue is a dance floor junkee.

Cost: $35 for food,
wine and beer. If last years is a reference point, it will be good.
Time: Need to confirm, but I think it is 7:00 for a 7:30 start.
Tickets: Available from 1 August and NORTHS require payment on purchase. Can you please let both myself and Marcelle know if keen to go. I, ideally will go to the club w/c 1 August to buy the tickets so need to have numbers and money by then. If you can't commit by this date, we can always try to fit on the table/s that we have already "purchased".
Payment: Required to Marcelle or via transfer
BSB: 062-210 / Acct: 10129560, with your name as reference, by Sunday 31 July -- that way can secure the correct number of seats, together.

Physio talk
As mentioned in last months newsletter, Jason from
St Leonards Physio has offered to give a presentation on prevention of running injuries. Cris has let me know that his talk is very worthwhile, and Cris is an honest marker in this area. Tentative date for the talk is Sunday 25 September, after running, with the suggestion to start the run/walk 30 minutes earlier so that we are all back ready for the talk and morning tea by 9:30. Please let me know if this is suitable, as I need to check Jason's availability and then book.

Advertising | Flyers and cards
Cards and flyers, with the revised name and NORTHS logo are ready. Hoping that they can be displayed at the NORTHS Gym, and of course if you want some to hand out I will have them on Sundays.
The intent is to let people know about us -- new faces. May I ask for everyone's help, to stay with them during the runs, in the first weeks, so that they are made to feel welcome. Dave Vlotman, I have to acknowledge and say thank you. You are always keeping others company. The card below is linked to the website so please share. I will include on my Facebook page.

And should any past members want to be removed from the email list please let me know. We hope that you don't, as it is great to be able to keep in touch.
