Summer Nights, Happened So Fast!

As we enter the month of August, I have a hard time believing it is already two-thirds of the way through 2016. It has been a great year thus far and I’m looking forward to the coming months. In September, I’ll be leading a weekend long retreat in Ellicottville, NY designed to get you in contact with your intuition. It’s going to be an enlightening time! If you haven’t registered, don’t delay! The deadline is August 31st. In October, WillowLight is hosting the 2nd Annual Hallowed Nights. Well attended last year, this is sure to be a spooky, good time filled with Table Tipping, Spirit Board, fellowship and lots of other fun things! Mark your calendars!!

But, I’m jumping ahead of myself. Fall isn’t here yet! So before the summer months fade away and autumn hits which means winter is right around the corner, I’m going to take time to enjoy the sunshine and the summer days. Perhaps a leisurely day to Lily Dale or Niagara-on-the-Lake is in the near future! Hope you have the chance to fill your days with summer fun!

Until next month, many blessings and love!

Book of the Month

The Road Less Traveled:
A New Psychology of Love, Traditional Values & Spiritual Growth
by M. Scott Peck, MD

Opening with the simple words, “Life is difficult,” Peck in The Road Less Traveled shattered the mold of self-awareness and beckoned in the era of enlightenment within which we are currently live. This book, with its principles on love, life and spirituality, offers timeless messages and is a must-read for any individual seeking to expand their self-understanding.

In this book, Peck, a psychiatrist, discusses discipline which includes taking responsibility for one’s actions and seeking balance through compromise; love, which he believes to be the force that drives us all; religion; and grace or the universal consciousness that facilitates our spiritual growth. He discusses these concepts gently and simply, and empowers the reader to take responsibility and control of their own spiritual growth. This empowerment is summarized in the opening of the book as he follows the opening statement with “It is a great truth because once we truly see truth, we transcend it. Once we truly know that life is difficult-once we truly understand and accept it-then life is no longer difficult. Because once it is accepted, the fact that life is difficult no longer matters.” This is truly a great end of summer read and a book that should remain on your shelf to come back to time and time again.

How Grounded Are You?

Have you ever found yourself listening to someone talk, but find you aren’t really hearing what they are saying? Or perhaps you have had a time when you have had difficulty concentrating on tasks such like budgeting or household chores? Or have you had times you, despite your efforts, find yourself bouncing from one task to another and not finishing anything? Or have you found yourself being aloof and spacey, not really caring about the world around you?

These are signs you are ungrounded. Each and every one of us experiences one or multiple of these at some point in our lives. When this is the status quo and occurs ALL the time, that’s when it can be a problem. If that’s your experience, my grounding workshop on August 18 with Buffalo Underground is for you. During this fun and interactive workshop, I’ll be introducing quick and easy techniques which are designed to help you become a rooted and present participant in your life.

Not able to make it? Here are a few simple tips: 1) walk around barefoot; 2) better yet, walk around barefoot OUTSIDE; 3) enjoy the summer and sit outside breathing in the fresh air; 4) if you have animals, pet them; and, 5) enjoy the fresh fruits and veggies of the season.
