Park news

Yellowstone has begun major renovation on the overlooks, trails, and parking areas around the rim of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River. This is a four-year project that will improve access and safety at Inspiration Point (closed until this fall), Red Rock Point, Brink of Upper Falls, Brink of Lower Falls, and Uncle Tom's Trail. If you are fortunate enough to travel there, always remember to check current conditions and park alerts on the National Park Service website.

We'll be traveling

Both author and editor will be in Yellowstone this September enjoying the sights and doing research for the next edition of Yellowstone Treasures. Janet has arranged to sign her Granite Peak books for visitors to Old Faithful Inn on September 4th while she is there. Check our Events page for details. And Beth will be doing research on some of the roads and trails while based outside the West and South Entrances. Unfortunately, our trips will not coincide, but we will have plenty of notes to compare!

Reviews of Through Early Yellowstone

The new anthology, Through Early Yellowstone: Adventuring by Bicycle, Covered Wagon, Foot, Horseback, and Skis, has garnered good reviews, mentioning favorites among the stories as well as how beautiful the watercolor sketches are and how interesting the early maps are. You can read excerpts from reviews published in Foreword Reviews and The Geyser Gazer Sput on our Reviews page. Some readers regard the book as a perfect one for libraries, since it is enhanced with a bibliography and thorough index, and is just "highly readable." If you are curious, there are eight more great reviews on LibraryThing. You can help us out by requesting the book (ISBN 978-0-9858182-65) at any library where you are a patron.
