Hello Skiers Boarders,

I wish to invite you to join us for the August meeting. It’s been a busy summer and as fall approaches, we naturally starting thinking about ski season. We have had an activity almost every month this summer, so please check our website for upcoming events. Harry Deitzler plans to host an activity for the month of August.

The Western Trip to Whitefish Mountain Resort in Whitefish, Montana is starting to fill up. If you are interested going, please check our website for details. Amy Gilbert will be the trip leader for the 2017 Holiday Valley ski trip. She will have more information for us at this meeting.

Again, I invite to join us at the Parkersburg Country Club on Tuesday, August 2, 2016. Board Meeting starts at 6:30pm, Social hour at 7:00pm and General Meeting at 8:00pm.

Thanks to Jim Bennett and Lisa Smith for organizing the bike ride in Athens! The rain held off and we ended up with a great ride and walk. It ranged from a 5 - 13 mile walks, and 16-30 mile rides. We met in Athens and rode on the paved bikepath. Some made it to Nelsonville, and you can see proof in the photos below! After the excercise, we re-loaded on calories at Casa Nueva on Court street.

Ohio Valley Ski Council is made up of 16 area ski clubs, including ours. OVSC is sponsoring trips to Big Sky, Montana (January 21 -28), Banff (February 11 – 18), and Japan in March. An updated club trip list for the 2016 -17 season will be available from the Trips page, with trips being added when details are available, usually in August.

At the April 2016 Meeting, each board member selected a month to work on. They will be in charge of the speaker and the activity for that month. Our goal is to tie the speaker to the activity for the month. Ex: One month Dan Jones talked about Kayaking, and the activity was Paddlefest on the Ohio River. The months and members-in-charge are below. If you have ideas, please pass them on to the member-in-charge. I'm sure they would value your input!

Wear your GREEN BANDANA!

How do you spot a member from the Ohio Valley Ski Club on the mountain or in this case on the river? By their Green Bandana of course! Come to the meeting to get your bandana with your paid membership for 2015/2016.

All ski club members get a green bandana. If you didn't get one yet, let Debbie Johnston know. Then make sure you always pack it with your helmet and tie it somewhere. It's a great way to find the group you came with or find other members at the slopes!

You can also purchase helmet stickers for $2.50 at any ski club meeting.
