Hi Moms and Dads

This newsletter is a very important form of communication. If you do not receive one via email, please let Jane have your email so that we can send you one and if you would prefer a hard copy in your child’s pocket, please let Jane know so that we can do this for you!

Thank you so much for your generosity last week and this week. We received many tins of non-perishable food stuffs as well as a few treats and other food items and toiletries for a family in our school who is in desperate need. So kind of all of you and much appreciated. I have sorted them into food parcels and handed them to the family concerned. Please keep them in your prayers and if next month you are able to donate again, please bring your items in to the office.
We had a great time at our mini baby shower on Friday. Monica and Minus and Silvester were thrilled to bits with their baby goodies. Thank you so much for your kindness and presents. Such a happy and special time now for all of them.  Mastoera takes over as assistant in the Angelfish Class.
Just a reminder that the school will be closed this Wednesday 3rd August –VOTING DAY

Hello Everybody

We will be discussing different jobs and what we want to be when we grow up.
On Friday children can dress up in what they want to be when they grow up.
Our focus this week is Language development. I will encourage the children to talk about the pictures in books and describe what is happening or what they think is happening.

General theme: Proudly SA and People from other countries
EQ: Waiting and persisting
Number Concepts:  No 1 -15
Language: Letter G and J (next week).
We start our new two week cycle theme of Proudly SA and other countries. Please send books or items you have about other countries. On Friday 12 August we will have a dress up day. The theme will be Attending a Royal Tea Party - the children can wear costumes from other countries or dress up as kings, gentlemen and queens or princess. Please NO SUPERO HERO costumes as they are not invited to the Royal event.
We are continuing to discuss setting and achieving goals during our EQ lessons but also during the day as the children do their art activities, play in the garden and participate in lessons. A few children were so delighted that they have learned to do hopscotch and many are thrilled that they can finally use the monkey bars and fireman's pole. They are all enjoying playing soccer and the girls love to challenge the boys. The improvement in their ball skills is so good to see and the children feel proud when they learn to do a new task. This week we will be discussing "Waiting and Persisting". I will give various situations of times when they have to wait for something eg birthdays a party etc.  Discuss emotion linked to this - angry, impatient, irritated, annoyed then excited, delighted, filled with joy when the day arrives.  A good example of persisting is - using the correct pencil grip! Since the beginning of the year I have been encouraging the children to use the correct  three finger grip but many children are still using a four finger grip.  Our saying is -"If at first you don't succeed then try, try, try again. "Please correct them when drawing or writing.  It is a challenge but they have to persist and in the end it will be beneficial for them when they go to school and have to write.  Encourage your children to play games that will strengthen their fine motor skills like puzzles, Lego, rolling up socks ,pegging washing, threading, lacing and  playing with dough and clay.
The children are enjoying the challenge of writing and even though they may not be spelling the words correctly they are able to link the sound to the letter which is the emergence of reading.
Important dates to remember-
School is closed on voting day Wed 3 Aug
School is closed next week on Mon 8 Aug and Tues 9 Aug
Dress up day Fri 12 August Attending A Royal Tea Party
Please look at the pictures I have pasted on facebook.
Thank you
Have a Blessed Week

Thank you to all the parents for all the effort you put into your children's costumes for our "Proudly SA and People from other Countries" dress up day.  They all looked super and were so proud of their outfits.  Please see our Facebook page for photos.
We will be discussing "Persistence - when trying to attain a goal" and "Reptiles" for the next two weeks.  Please encourage your children to bring books or items to do with our themes.  Only three children have posted their goal in the box above the drying rack.  Please chat to your child about the goal they would like to set for this term.  It can be anything from doing the monkey bars to riding their bicycle without training wheels etc.  Write it down for them on a piece of paper and get them to post it into the box.  We will be discussing them at the end of this week.  Continue to encourage them with their shoelaces.  We will be going on an outing to the Lakeside Fire Station on Tuesday 13 September.  Please see the notice board for details and to sign the necessary forms to allow your child to attend and if you are able to help with lifts.  Please note that on Wednesday this week we are closed as it is Voting Day, 3 August.  We are also closed on Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 August being a school holiday/public holiday.
We will be celebrating Mrs Chitehwe's birthday tomorrow, Tuesday 2 August.  Please can you encourage your child to draw her a special picture or make her a little card tonight.  It is difficult to do this in the classroom secretly when she is always around.  Thank you!
We will be concentrating on Gross Motor skills over the next two weeks.  I will be looking at balance, hopping, skipping, co-ordination, star jumps and ball skills (catching, throwing, bouncing, kicking).  Play games with your children which involve these skills and encourage them when they find it difficult to do.  The more they practise the easier it will become.
Have a fabulous week

EQ: I know I can be able to more thinks when I am older.
Greetings all,
Hope you had a good weekend.
This is our final week of the theme 'who am I'.
We will learn about our bodies through experiences games and songs. We will also learn and show using the skeleton model how our body moves.
Take your child to the park and encourage them to jump, swing, hang and slide. These activities help the children learn about themselves and develop vital skills.
On Friday we will be having a class ' Talent Show' where the children are going to show what they can do with their bodies eg. physical skills, singing, poetry, dancing, modelling etc and they can as well dress up according to what they want to show us.
Our EQ is still on Going for goals and we will be focusing on helping them know that when they are older, they will be able to do more things.
Lastly I would like to thank you all for the lovely donations towards our baby shower. We greatly appreciate.
Enjoy your week,
