Dodgers CF Joc Pederson stretched his home run streak to three games Sunday with a pinch-hit, two-run bomb off Arizona's Evan Marshall. The 431-foot shot, his 16th of the season, was the second-longest home run in the Majors yesterday. Los Angeles went on to win 14-3. In 2015, Pederson had two even longer home-run streaks: five games (May 31-June 3), and four games (April 27-May 2).
A total of three Jews played in Detroit's 11-0 win over Houston. Astros rookie Alex Bregmansingled in the 3rd inning for his first Major League hit, breaking an 0-for-18 spell that dated back to his MLB debut on July 25. Bregman finished the day 1-for-5. Meanwhile, teammate Scott Feldman turned in his worst performance since being demoted to Houston's bullpen in April, yielding 2 home runs and 4 earned runs overall in 2 innings. Despite the onslaught, Feldman's ERA remains a slim 2.90. On the other side of the diamond, Detroit 2B Ian Kinsler went 0-for-3 with a walk.
Toronto CF Kevin Pillar went 1-for-5 in a 12-inning, 6-2 loss to Baltimore.
Ryan Braun sat out his fourth straight as the Brewers beat Pittsburgh 4-2. Braun is suffering from tightness in his right side. Sports reporters continue to debate whether Milwaukee will deal the left fielder before today's non-waiver trade deadline passes.
Danny Valencia did not play in Oakland's 8-0 loss to Cleveland.
Reliever Richard Bleier did not play in the Yankees' 5-3 loss to Tampa Bay.
