50 great things about Tottenham

There are a lot of exciting things happening in Tottenham. We've put together a list of '50 great things about Tottenham' showing why it's a fantastic place to work and live.

Cllr Ayisi was born and brought up in Tottenham - watch him talk about what makes him proud about the area in this YouTube video.

Haringey People available online

The August/September edition of Haringey People is now available online. It includes stories about eight Haringey Heroes, a guide to places to eat and drink on the ‘Green Lanes Trail’ and features the opening of the £3million Marcus Garvey library and the Haringey School’s Music Festival.

The next edition will include a focus on the ‘Muswell Hill Trail’. Please send any suggestions for things to do and places to eat and drink in Muswell Hill to yourstories@haringey.gov.uk  by 15  August.

Muswell Hill Library consultation

Please have your say on our consultation about proposals to relocate Muswell Hill Library to an alternative site at 54/56 Muswell Hill (the site of the old Green Man pub). To provide a modern and accessible service, Muswell Hill Library needs adaptations and repairs to the building. There is currently no lift in the building to access the children’s library on the first floor, and no accessible toilets for library users or staff. Level access to the ground floor entrance is provided by a limited elevated platform lift at the side of the building. Options for adapting the existing library building were explored, but the estimations of costs ranged from £680,000 to £1,650,000.

Watch Cllr Bernice Vanier, Deputy Leader, and Cabinet Member for Customer Services and Culture, explain on YouTube why there will always be a library in Muswell Hill and why a building to the whole community is vital.

The consultation closes on 25 August 2016.

A new neighbourhood in Tottenham

The search for a long-term partner to build a new neighbourhood in Tottenham moved closer as Haringey Council shortlisted six bidders for its £450 million High Road West scheme which will see more than 1,400 new homes built, along with new business space and a major new public square.

Haringey's home to a Summer of Fun this year, with more going on than ever before. Take a look below for some highlights but check out our What's On calendar for a full list. Remember you can also submit your own event online.
