Kristian Murray is the Lead Program Youth Worker who teaches STEM to our kids. STEM is the study of science, technology, engineering and math that gives young minds the knowledge and power to succeed.

" Passage Home has given me the platform to educate our youth. I believe it goes beyond the children being our future...it has everything to do with STEM being the way that children and teens are going to be able to make it out of poverty and lead self-sufficient lives," said Kristian Murray.

Murray spends time teaching the kids the importance of reading and expanding their educational horizons. She pushes the kids daily to never give up, read and to always love themselves.

High School Graduate Success Story

Ashante Watson wanted to give up. Feeling defeated by the stresses of life she contemplated dropping out of school. Positive reinforcement from the youth staff at Passage Home provided Ashante with inspiration to accomplish her goals.

"It's a powerful feeling when people see potential in me. Everyone is so encouraging, it's what a child needs," said Ashante Watson.

Ashante Watson, now a recent high school graduate has been working at Moe's for a year and bought her first car. In August, she plans to start college to pursue a career in teaching.

Backpack Drive

As the school year approaches, many families wonder how they will afford to get school supplies their children need in order to succeed in school.

Passage Home anticipates to deliver 215 backpacks filled with supplies by August 18th.

Your backpack donation can start the school year off right for a child in your community.
