News from O'Brien Guitars
Greetings  from O'Brien Guitars

Am I the only one that thinks this year is going by way too fast? Here we are in August already! Many of you have sent me pics of your shops and work that is on your bench. It appears that many of you are finding time to make some sawdust so keep it up.

I just returned from a 3 week trip to Brazil where I taught an acoustic guitar building course. 16 guitars were built in 10 days! These kind of courses are always intense but very rewarding for all involved.

Next on the schedule is to begin filming the online archtop guitar building course with Brazilian Luthier João Cassias. He arrives this Thursday at the O'Brien Guitars workshop and filming will begin Monday. The entire month of August is reserved for the filming. In addition we will be making appearances at a couple of guitar related events in Colorado. One is the annual Guitar town event at Copper Mountain ski resort where I will be giving a lecture/demo on acoustic guitar set up. This is a free event so don't miss this weekend of free music with world class performers. The other is the Rocky Mountain Guitar Camp in Estes park, Colorado. Four world renowned artists and instructors will be present: John Knowles, Richard Smith, Jim Nichols and Pat Bergeson. This is a great opportunity to spend four days learning and performing with the masters.

This morning I launched  my latest Luthier Tips du Jour Mailbag video. In this video I show how to use the articulated clamp available from LMI.  All of my Luthier Tips du jour videos are available on my website via the videos page  Beside the video window there is a drop down menu that allows you to switch between my original Luthier Tips du Jour videos, my Luthier Tips du Jour Mailbag videos, product videos and others.

I am already taking reservations for my 2017 teaching schedule.  If you can't come to my shop for a building class then my online courses are a very close second to actually being here with me in my shop.  Happy Building!

If you are interested in learning to build guitars or just want
to see how I build my guitars then schedule a class with me.

If you are in need of a concert quality classical or steel string
guitar then let me know as I would love to build a guitar for you.

Thank you,
