Following a short break for lunch, participants will be able to book 20-minute meetings with one of four experienced grant writers – David Folk, Chris W. Carson, Tammy McGrath, or Kari McQueen – to look over a final draft of their AFA or other application-in-progress.
Find more information and register for the workshop here.
*Note: there is a $10 cost to register.
Never applied for an AFA grant? We want to hear from you!
Attention Alberta Artists! If you have never applied for an AFA grant before, we'd like to know a little bit more about you. Please take five minutes to fill out this (very) short survey - and please share!
Grant Recipients: Sign-up for Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT)
If you receive grants from the AFA, this is a great time to transition to Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) instead of cheques. This method is more efficient and cost effective to administer. It reduces the risk of cheques being lost, intercepted or compromised as well as delivery delays resulting from any potential Canada Post strike or if you move.
All you need to do is scan and send a void cheque AND direct deposit form (yes, we need them both) to afacontact@gov.ab.ca or mail it to:
Arts Branch, Alberta Culture and Tourism
10708 105 Avenue
Edmonton AB T5H 0A1
... and your next AFA grant will go directly into your bank account!

AFA25: Alberta to Japan -- Indigenous Alberta Art Across the World
We recently looked back on a very special exhibition of Indigenous visual art which spent time at the Royal Alberta Museum, the Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery, Art Gallery of Grande Prairie, and eventually the Prince Takamado Gallery in Tokyo Japan!
Narrative Quest featured a selection of 60 artworks by 22 Indigenous artists from the collection of the AFA and showcased several of the artworks acquired through the Indigenous curatorial initiative. The prevalent themes in these artworks are often based on storytelling. These are stories that have been shared by the elders, stories of a search for understanding and meaning, stories of identity and belonging, and stories retold to preserve a threatened culture. They are stories immersed in the past, reflective of the present and hopeful for the future.
