NEW EP: STEVE DAWSON LIVE AT THE OLD TOWN SCHOOL OF FOLK MUSIC
A month ago I had the pleasure of opening for Bob Schneider in the amazing Maurer Hall at The Old Town School of Folk Music, with Jason Roebke (Funeral Bonsai Wedding) joining me on upright bass. The show was recorded and it came out pretty good, so I thought I'd put it up on Bandcamp as an EP. Have a look and listen here. Live At The Old Town School of Folk Music is available exclusively via download at Bandcamp for a mere $4.00!

THE RETURN OF THE JESUS CHRIST TRIO!
Over the past 5 years or so Diane and I have had the pleasure of joining Robbie Fulks at the Hideout in December to sing gospel songs and spirituals. Robbie named us the Jesus Christ Trio. It has been a musical highlight every year. This past December we decided it was the final show because Robbie is winding down his residency at the Hideout. WELL... we are resurrecting the trio to benefit the Chicago Shambhala Mediation Center, a wonderful place dedicated to kindness and compassion that offers meditation classes and community outreach, among many other things, and is open to everybody. We’ll sing songs from the Jesus Christ Trio songbook, along with Robbie’s songs, my songs, Diane’s songs and choice covers we all like. Friday, July 29. The event will be at the Center, 37 N. Carpenter, in the west loop. Doors open at 6pm, music at 7:15. We'll do 2 sets and there will be a silent auction. It's a wonderful  place and a very worthy cause, and it will most certainly be a great night of music! Advance tickets highly recommended

DOLLY VARDEN RETURNS TO FITZGERALDS!
Friday, August 19 with the Phil Angotti Band! We return to the magic music room of Berwyn to play some of our new songs, and a bunch of favorites. Phil's band will play a full set and we'll all jump onstage together for a few songs at the end. It's gonna be a good one.
Friday, August 19, 8:30pm FitzGerald's 6615 W. Roosevelt Rd, Berwyn
Advance tickets on sale now

In the last email I mentioned Chrissy Johnson's wonderful new album, "Arms of July." Here's a reminder that her release party concert is this coming Sunday night, July 31st, in the Side Bar at FitzGeralds. I'll play with Chrissy, I'll play a short solo set after her set, and then Rachel Drew & The Bitter Roots play a full set to close the evening.

Thanks!!  -Steve Dawson
