The EGPCP Steering Group recently met to hear from a range of EGPCP Small Grant recipients. All of the Small Grant projects contributed to progressing local work and it's great to see all of them still active!

“Aboriginal life in Gippsland; a seniors perspective”
Expressions of interest are being sort for Aboriginal seniors and elders (50yrs +) to take part in filming a documentary on “Aboriginal life in Gippsland; a seniors perspective”. This documentary is being developed through a partnership between the regional network of Aboriginal disability and aged care agencies (NADAC), Gippsland Sectoral Development Team, Koorie Heritage trust and funding and support from DHHS seniors festival. This documentary will be launched at Fed square on Sunday 2 October, with a regional event taking place in Morwell on Friday 7 October. Congratulations Sarah!
Congratulations to Sarah Corbell from Gippsland Women's Health for being nominated for the Victorian Regional Achievement and Community Awards - Leadership Innovation Award. Sarah is the driving force behind the Gippsland Prevention of Men's Violence Against Women Strategy and the Make the Link campaign.

Improving healthcare for Aboriginal Australians through effective engagement between community and health services
This article re-iterates the need for Aboriginal communities to be engaged in decision making, rather than being consulted after the fact. 

State of Australia's Mothers
Save the Children has released a report comparing the experience of mothers across Australia, finding some are facing difficult situations and feel isolated and unsupported.

Victorian Population Health Survey 2014
The Victorian Population Health Survey has been conducted each year since 2001 and is based on a sample of adults aged 18 years and over, randomly selected from households from each of the eight health regions of the Department of Health and Human Services regions in the state.

2016 VicHealth Awards
The 2016 VicHealth Awards will celebrate these great projects that do so much to improve and maintain the health and wellbeing of Victorians. EGPCP encourage our partners to submit a nomination for these awards. Nominations close at 5pm, Friday 19 August. 

2016 Victorian Public Healthcare Awards
The Victorian Public Healthcare Awards celebrate the dedication, excellence and innovation in public health, health services and service initiatives that deliver informed and effective healthcare. Awards include category and key awards which focus on priority areas in the Victorian public healthcare system, as well as the Premier's Health Service of the Year Awards. Submissions of interest for the Premier's Health Service of the Year Awards close on Sunday 28 August 2016, while all other entries close Sunday 4 September 2016.

Gippsland Referral System Analysis

Gippsland PHN seeks the input of health care and community organisations across the Gippsland region to build an understanding of the referral platforms and entry points that exist, and to identify capacity and gaps in service provision. Launched today by VACCHO and other leading health bodies behind Rethink Sugary Drink, the Sports Drinks are Gammin! campaign draws on the experiences of 5 Aboriginal sportspeople to encourage community members to drink water instead of sugary drinks. The digital campaign highlights the health effects of regularly downing sports drinks.

Victorian Cancer Plan 2016-2020
The cancer plan sets ambitious goals, and provides a framework to improve cancer outcomes for all Victorians. The plan has a medium-term goal to save 10,000 lives by 2025.
