"UNDERGROUND OBSERVATORY" BY LAUREN NICHOLSON

Outré is proud to be hosting Lauren Nicholson's "Underground Observatory" opening this Friday night at 6pm. The exhibition is the latest in our series of the Small Wall Project.

Nicholson is a Melbourne based artist and illustrator who uses traditional techniques, experimental mark making and digital media to create layered imagery that is influenced by the power of colour, personal journeys, the natural world, printed matter, memories and old stories.

The artist has produced a series of sixteen artworks for the exhibition that tantalise with their hinted narratives and surreal flourishes. 

Join us in Melbourne from 6pm on Friday for the official launch of the show. All welcome, no RSVP required. Enjoy a drink courtesy of Feral Brewing in WA.

One of the latest additions to Outré’s roster of artists is Mab Graves. The Pop Surrealist artist has been warmly received since her work first hit our walls back in June. Arriving shortly is Graves’ latest release “Kitty Rider”. A feline riding beauty rides the skies with butterfly companions - setting off for adventures in the ether. COVEN: A SEANCE BY RHYS COOPER
FORTHCOMING SMALL WALL PROJECT SHOW

For many years local Melbourne boy Rhys Cooper lived a double life, mild mannered clothing designer by day, poster artist by night (and weekends).

After 6 years in streetwear a decision was made to focus on poster art and he hasn't looked back since. Rhys has proudly created work for bands such as Queens of the Stone Age, The Bronx, Misfits, Rage Against The Machine, Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters and many others as well as working with film studios, Mondo, Star Wars and Marvel. Rhys' art prints can also be found in pop culture galleries and shows around the world.

Outré is proud to be exhibiting Rhys's work with his show "Coven" opening in a couple of weeks.

XENOPLASM OPENING

Curated by participating artist Peter Kelk (aka Seymour), Xenoplasm was a supremely vibrant designer toy and art extravaganza. The show brought together over 20 international artists exploring the current movement of ‘West meets East’ within Art-toy production painting and illustration. The opening night saw a bevy of ultra keen collectors and aficionados, some of whom starting lining up for the show from 7am the morning of the opening. We had one dedicated collector fly in from overseas specifically to attend the show and a number of others who came to Melbourne from interstate. Attendees conversed intently and enthusiastically about the art and enjoyed a drink courtesy of Feral Brewing.

The show is almost a complete sell out, with just a handful of pieces still available - the full show can be viewed HERE. Stay tuned for a follow up show in 2017!
 
The Monks - Monk Chant
Anyone who knows us well is aware we love the offbeat, obscure and curious. Some of you will be familiar with the band The Monks. Who you ask? Just five American GIs stationed in Germany who shaved their heads, monk style, and start an avant garde garage punk band.  Here's a good clip to start for those who aren't familiar with this rockin group. Go Monks Go!
