LEAP and the news will appear...

We ended last month bursting with pride at the achievements of our latest intake of Flourish Employment Academy graduates. All five clients (above, with staff members Andy, Simon and Alisha) graduated at a special ceremony at OPEN, attended by family, friends and supporters.

And the achievements don't stop there! We have recently gathered the results of our Enhanced Offender Employability Programme (conducted in partnership with the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner and the DWP) and are delighted to announce that 21% of clients assisted through the programme have gained employment - an outstanding result for this particular client group. Our Opportunities Officer Megan Clifford has written an article (below) to tell you more.

We're delighted that our friend and supporter Vanessa Ponsford held Yoga in the Park, raising money for LEAP and The Feed. Subsequently, she has set up a crowdfunding campaign, aiming for a target of £1000! If you would like to donate, please click
here.

Last but not least, we are currently looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Opportunities Officer to join the friendly team here at LEAP. For more details, please read on...

How are we doing?

Here at LEAP, we are always looking for ways to expand our service and ensure that we are approaching the future with innovative ways of thinking.

We are currently asking people to complete a short survey to let us know their views on how we're doing, and what you would like to see from us in the future.

Your views really matter to us, and results so far have been overwhelmingly positive. The next time you sit down for a cuppa, please take a few minutes to complete our survey here (closing 12 August). Thank you!
You are not for everyone - and that's OK!

LEAP's Outstanding Results Working in Parternship

One year ago, we teamed up with the Department of Work and Pensions and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner to launch an Enhanced Offender Employability Programme. The project aimed to help ex-offenders facing various barriers to employment, including criminal records, homelessness, mental health problems and substance abuse issues.

The programme has been highly successful, with 21% of clients going into paid employment; an outstanding result for a client group striving to break the cycle of reoffending.

Clients were offered an initial assessment and action plan, alongside regular one-to-one coaching addressing multiple needs. Work experience and catering training was also facilitated through The Feed's Flourish Employment Academy.

LEAP’s Opportunities Advisor Megan Clifford ran the project. She said:

“A stable job can be a major route out of criminal activity. Clients’ employability has improved and according to police research, reoffending rates have dropped dramatically.”

We are really proud of these results, and LEAP will continue to support those with convictions working closely with HMP Norwich, the Probation service and the DWP.

Enrol for our next Flourish Employment Academy intake now!

LEAP's weekly Wednesday drop-in sessions will be pausing during August due to staff changes over this period.

If you would like to register as a client (or refer a client) to enrol for the next Flourish Employment Academy intake starting in September, please contact the LEAP office to make an appointment on 01603 627841.

The Flourish Employment Academy training programme offers great opportunities for clients facing barriers to employment to train in catering & hospitality skills, as well as expanding their cultural horizons through specialised workshops.

If you have any queries please email info@norwichleap.co.uk - our team will be happy to help you.
