The official Nordisk Panorama Film Festival Competition Programme 2016 released.

Nordisk Panorama Film Festival takes place between 16-21 September in Malmö, Sweden. Out of 616 submitted titles, 50 films have now officially been selected to partake in this year’s Nordic championship in documentary and short film production – Nordisk Panorama Awards.
 
In three jury decided competition sections (Best Nordic Documentary, Best Nordic Short Film and Best New Nordic Voice) renowned representatives from the International and Nordic film business will award the best of the best. In the fourth section (Nordisk Panorama Audience Award, sponsored by the city of Malmö) the power is however in the hands of the filmgoers to appoint the winner of this year’s honouring audience award.

Best Nordic Documentary

Information: In this section we screen the 14 best selected documentaries from the Nordic countries are screened. The award goes to the director(s) of the film.

Prize: 11’000€ (Sponsored by the Nordic public broadcasters: DR, YLE, RUV, NRK och SVT)

Best Nordic Short Film

Information: In this section the 26 best selected short films from the Nordic countries are screened. The award goes to the director(s) of the film. The prize-winning film will qualify for consideration in the Short Film Category of the Annual Academy Awards® without the standard theatrical run, provided that the film otherwise complies with the Academy rules.

Prize: 7’000€ (Sponsored by the Nordic directors’ associations: Danish Film Directors, Directors’ Guild of Finland, Guild of Icelandic Film Directors, Norwegian Film Directors Association and Swedish Film Directors)

Best New Nordic Voice

Information: The New Nordic Voices competition introduces promising Nordic filmmakers. The works have not previously been screened in the Nordisk Panorama competition programme, and selected films are among the first releases by the filmmaker.

Prize: 3’500€ (Sponsored by Film i Skåne)

Jury: Birgitte Weinberger, Odense Film Festival (Denmark), Oscar Eriksson, Folkets Bio (Sweden), Ane Hjort Guttu, New Nordic Voice Special Mention 2015 (Norway).
 

Nordisk Panorama Audience Award

To win the audience award at Nordisk Panorama Film Festival is among the finest appreciations a filmmaker can get. The audience can vote for any of the Nordic short films and documentaries competing in the main competition programmes as well as any of the new Nordic films in the special programmes by using voting cards that are handed at the screenings.

Prize: 2’500 € (Sponsored by the City of Malmö)
